Hey, alright Gary! I hope to be going to EQ this coming weekend, too. Now wouldn't that be cool. My dad has signed on for the ride up there, so him and Dusty can compare notes on how proud they are of their sons while we talk shop with Les.

Now what does all this CFI and CAP stuff mean?

TyBoo -

CFI is "Certified Flight Instructor". (Interpreted, We spent way too much money on airplanes and now hope to teach someone to fly to offset. Turns out most of my instruction is voluntary.)

CAP is "Civil Air Patrol". Great organization with multiple missions including Search and Rescue, Natural Disaster Surveillence and Aerospace Education.

Look forward to seeing you. gary

Gary,

See you next weekend! Should have said EX CFI... in fact everything is EX. 84 in Feb. if'n TyBoo Mike doesn't sink my boat. The V-tail Bonanza, three Lake amphibs all over the hilll like the boss. The vet clipped my wings (and tail feathers Evil or Very Mad) so I fly a MKII rocker, but dream a lot.

Meet you at EQ Sat. with Mike and his dad. FYI Les is my son. I'm a proud dad.

Dusty

Baboos_boat,
Congratulations on your reservation of a C Dory.
You ask about suggested reading for marine navigation. Boat Navigation For The Rest Of Us by Captain Bill Brogdon, published by International Marine/McGraw-Hill. This is a practical guide to real world navigating. It is just a little dated as his references to GPS chartplotting are all future oriented. Another reference for mariners is One Minute Guide To The Nautical Rules Of The Road by Charlie Wing, published by International Marine/Ragged Mountain Press. The One Minute Guide is a straight forward, plain english interpretation of those marine laws which concern the average boater. Happy reading and boating.

Fred and I considered getting a tall pilot house for Anita Marie, but didn't, and we're glad. I don't think the extra room would be that useful, and it raises the overall height of the boat, making it REALLY tall if you add a radar arch. Frankly, I thought it looked a little odd.

Anita Marie - I too just confirmed with Les the standard cabin. I was at EQ Marine Friday, stood in both the standard and the tall and I like the standard. I will be posting in another post the overall choices I made. Will look forward to your opinions. By the way, I got the same radar arch as you!

Had a great visit with Les on Friday, Dec. 4. Very pleased I am working with EQ Marine.

Here is a list of my options and later some of the choices I still have to make. I welcome all of your comments!

. 22' C-Dory
. Standard Cabin
. Twin Honda 40's
. Garmin GPS, Sounder, Chart
. Ray Marine Radar
. Opening front window
. Windshield wipers
. Handrails
. Auto-Steering
. Not the I-Com radio - the other brand which is popular
. Windlass - the one which goes under the deck. Forget the name.
. Rear Bilge Pump
. Dual Axel Trailer with surge brakes
. The "Barber Chair"
. Green trim.
. I am sure I forgot something - but this is the basic packaged

Not decided on and looking for opinions -

. Type of anchor
. Seems like there was something else but I can't think of it right now.

Well thar she be. I am looking forward to "breaking in" Baboo's Boat with many of you as companions on our maiden voyage of the San Juans.

Gosh this is exciting!

gary and jimmie (by the way, jimmie is a common Texas name for females)

aTyBoo - sorry to have missed you at EQ Marine. I was there Friday, day before I guess you came. I did stand in your CD-22 and Les and I tool many pictures of the "Barber Chair." Why the CD folks do not jump on your design as an option is a mystery to me. Great job on the modification!

Thanks for all your help TyBoo and to all other C-Brats.

Gary,
Fantastic! Glad you made it down to work out the details on your new boat. It's a good thing that Mike got the Tyboo into Les before this onslaught of new vessels hit him!
What is the projected commencement time of building at the factory and the projected delivery date?
Who knows, if the dates were right, there could be another "gathering" to celebrate.
Are you and Jimmie going to be able to come down for the SBS?

Dave - My wife and I will not be at the Seattle Boat Show. We will be in Australia visiting with daughter, son-in-law and two grandkids. The date I will go to EQ Marine to initiate boat is sometime in mid-May. I would be absolutley delighted to have a "flotilla" of C-Dories to cruise with. gary

Gary, sorry that you'd rather be in Australia than at the SBS with us.....tee hee...just joking.

If tradition were to hold true....for the past two years we've had a "gathering" at Lopez Island for the "Opening Weekend of Boating Season" which if I'm not mistaken is the 1st weekend in May.

(of course "opening weekend of boating" doesn't really apply to us as we boat year round here.....it's just another excuse to get together....as if we need one!)
