Thanks for reminding me, Checkraise, that when I get my new C-Dory, I need to continue to give the dreaded South Tower of the Golden Gate bridge a very wide berth. This is a spooky and evil place even on a good day, and no swell running. With an ebb tide opposing a stiff summer onshore flow, it can become a maelstrom in minutes. And I've always thought it was a good rule of thumb that if you see surfers ahead of you, you should probably alter course. . .

You can see the course I like to follow. Calm wind and slack tide helps, also.

I have been known to "surf" the big rollers coming back in, but not when they are breaking. Never with anyone else on board, either. Laughing
