Scooped radar arch interior mounting plate

I want to run my VHF antenna differently and I would like to wire it through the arch tubing. I have one tube now with a scooped base for running wires but it is packed full already. Anyone have an idea of where I might find another stainless scooped mounting plate? I could drill out one of my 3 solid bases but would rather haved the scooped type so the wire can lay flat nicely.

Greg, I am not sure what you mean be a "scooped" base. The bases on the rear tubes of my arch have feet with a hole at the tube, and the internal gusset also has a hole. I would be interested in seeing a photo of your installation.

Not sure if I can get a picture really soon but imagine a hoodscoop on a car but upside down on the ceiling like some of the hooded vents/shields you might see on the side of a boat. Maybe that is the piece I need to be looking for?

Your installation seems to be different than the one on Journey On. That's why a picture would help.

For Journey On, on the outside, the radar arch has round mounting feet welded on the tubing. These feet bolt onto the cabin top and have holes which gives access to the tubes.

On the inside the bolts pass through round backing plates. The forward backing plates have holes and access to the external tubes is through a hole drilled through the cabin top.

I don't know of any internal backing plates (if that's what you're talking about,) that are shaped like a scoop. The radar arch maker's name should be on the radar arch. Contact them. If the scoop just provides cable routing and isn't a backing plate, you don't really need it.

Otherwise, you can just drill a hole through another backing plate, up through the cabin top, through the external foot and into the tube through which you want to route the wire.

Greg, would one of these little "clam shells" work? It's usually used as shown here over an anchor locker drain but might work for you too?

hi greg,
is your goal to mount the antenna onto the radar arch?
if you check out my album, i had two 8' antennas installed, one on each side of the cabin. it turned out very salty looking and can't tell you how many people commented on them. or, i would drill out one of the other arch legs for wire runs. on my c-dory i had the remote search light, two antennas and of course the radar arch, very salty look.

I guess I can just recreate that on the other side a be ready to go. All this time I was thinking it was one piece.

if you have to drill out the base to route your wire be careful. i drilled out the base on the bow hand rail for the spot light wireing. if you dont remove the radar arch ( i did not move rail from the boat) just make sure that you get the drill angle to match the tube angle and dont drill out the side of one of the tubes. I just poked a hole thru the weld were the tube and the base met. I had to have it welded close. have fun
