that's a good tale....ya know what I passed on the freeway yesterday, the 23rd? A new, green, unrigged, radar arch equiped C-Dory being pulled by a truck with a Sportcraft sticker on the door, it looked nice, I just had to slow down and let it pass me again as I got off at my exit. What are the odds? congratulations on a nice looking boat _________________ Ken

Whew, other than leaving PWS behind, it sounds like 95% of your problems could be solved mainly by moving south...Anyway, keep on snapping those great pix of the dogs and bears and flowers, we love 'em here! _________________

Dan,
Glad to see that you made a decision on the engine. As mentioned earlier, I have been extremely satisfied with the Suzuki 90. Please let me know how the 6hp works for you as a kicker.
Enjoy!
Casey
PS: Great pictures on your website. Thanks! |

Dan,
Congratulations!!! Understand the logistical problems and desire to stay put, as we lived in Alaska for 20+ years and were "Oil Field Trash". It all gets in your blood, but had to relocate due to family. The boat sounds great and am envious (hopefully will order this July) and I would love to stop for a look-see and get acquainted. Will be in FBX on about the 28th of June. If you will be available, please send me a PM for directions and phone #. Sorry I'll miss the gathering for Naked Island, but will be south bound by then. Enjoy! Doug |

Dan, congrats on the move up. Hope another buyer turns up soon.
I just missed making it to Fairbanks in '67. I believe it was in August.
We had just come out of the Mt. McKinley Park area(caribou hunting) after days and days of rain. The Susitna was near flood stage when we went in, and the water was lapping at the road bed as we crossed back out.
We headed for Fairbanks, but stopped at Delta Junction to get a shock mount repaired. While waiting, the mechanic asked us where we were bound? When we said, Fairbanks, he laughed. Said that the river had just gone over the banks and there was nine feet of water downtown.
He then asked where we were coming from. When we told him he said we were really lucky. The Susitna had taken out the bridge just behind us.
I have been back to Alaska since, but never made it up to Fairbanks. Closest I came was in '70 when I had a trip set up to float the Yukon R. from Eagle to Circle. An early storm dumped four feet of snow North of Tok, so that had to be scratched.
We just moved on to Plan B and did well. _________________ Boat delivered in May, '05 |
