A "delicate subject."
My wife and I have no problem using the porta potty on long cruises on our 16 Cruiser. A couple of times I have taken friends for short day trips and told them to use the facilities before departure. Has anyone tried some sort of arrangement for privacy when using the porta potty? |

Just google "porta potty privacy". Lots of choices.
Never tried one myself. My bride made me buy a TomCat (darn! )

I think I will have to get my glasses adjusted... When I first read this, I thought it said:
Porta Potti Piracy
Why on earth would anyone be interested in Porta Potti Piracy! _________________ "And in the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years." - Abraham Lincoln |

On most of the 22's, you can get privacy y enclosing the curtain into the berth area. However, I don't like the porta potty in the v-berth area so when I had the camper canvas made for my 22, I had compartment I could zipper on in the cockpit that provided privacy. Such as system would work fine on a 22. _________________ Roger on Meant to be |

Don't know about the 16, but on the 22 we carry the Porta Potti out back between the fuel tanks. Have used it in the cockpit while running, with all in the cabin doing "eyes forward". At night it comes inside, and sits in the isle, just forward of the cabin door. Works for us.

We have a set of shades that we made for the windows inside and the camperback provides good cover for the rear (no pun intended). Before I got the camperback, we used a blanket with a set of spring loaded hand clamps and attached it to the back of the roof. Simple and easy. _________________ I am the 125% I work so the 99% don't have to.

Personally, I would still like to find a good alternative to the Porta Potti. I think the emptying process is messy (dah), and the use is uncomfortable. I am inclined toward a bucket with some seat attachment. Alternatives?

Years ago I emptied a porta potty in Yellowstone park. The process sounded more like someone taking a world record dump rather than what was actually happening. It sounded so graphic the guy in the next stall asked if I was OK!
Harvey, I agree, the bucket is a very tempting option. |

I have not tried the Biffy Bags or the Metallic Spaghetti Strap Mini Dress Low Cut Back in bright pink that John gave us a link to...... but, several of us have used the PETT Wag-Bag system for years and love it. Some have used the tri-fold brief case looking stand/seat, others of us have just used the Todd snap seat lids that go on any normal 5 gal bucket....
On a CD16, there is only going to be just so much privacy. Boating folks understand that and the land lovers on our boats kinda sorta get use to it....or...they hold it.....for a while anyway.
And...l I am not to sure that would look good on me with the spaghetti straps or not.

Pat.
I'm surprised. I think you'd look awesome in the Metallic Spaghetti Strap Mini Dress Low Cut Back in bright pink. I can't imagine why you've not tried it yet. |
