Greeting : We live in Tualatin, Oregon and plan to use our boat primarily on the Puget Sound and prefer not to trailer back and forth. Is anyone aware of secure, dry (out of the water) storage for our boat in the Olympia area? Prefer a spot close to Interstate 5. Thanks, Ken |

Ken, Are you looking for a place to park your boat and trailer? Or are you looking for dry storage where your boat is stored indoors off of the trailer and is launched and retrieved as part of your rental? Robbi _________________ 2023 C-Dory 23 Venture Sport

Hello Ken, I was up in Tacoma on the Foss waterway and looked over the new dry storage facility there. It is called Foss Landing Marina and Boat Storage. I was interested in a place to launch, but they are strickly dry storage and a launch facility. Open 7 days a week. It might be worth a call to check out. Lots of great cruising close to there. The number is 253-627-4344, the web site is www.fosslanding.com Hope this helps. It is right off I-5 and about 30 minutes from Olympia.
Happy Boating, Big Mac |

C-Run is packing her bags and getting ready for the move to Foss Landing at the end of the month. My husband and I went to a "do" at the Museum of Glass Sat night, and as we left we walked along the Foss parkway. It was beautiful. Boy, Tacoma has come a long way. I am really excited about having the boat there. Robbi |

We have been waiting to get into Foss Landing since we signed up the day after the boat show. Hopefully they will get us in soon. They do have a wonderful facility there.

Well, here's the bad news. Foss Landing has rejected my boat. They say that it is too narrow and the bottom is too flat to fit the launch bunks. My guess is that they are not going to deal with any C-Dorys. Twin bridges has a slightly different launching sequence. They launch right from the fork lift. This is what I thought Foss Landing was going to do, (that is what they told me in Nov) but that has changed. They move the boat out of the building on the forklift and then set it on bunks under the sling hoist. They then launch using the sling. The problem is the bunk under the sling. It is too wide to fit the hull of my 19 foot C-Dory. Also, the flat bottom makes the boat more unstable on the storage bunks and the forklift. Bummer! They have had no experience with C-Dorys they say, and were caught off guard by the shape of the hull. Well, now they know. I am extremely fortunate that Dave at Chambers Bay Marina is letting me keep my unit. Bless his heart. So, even though C-Run has been tied to the dock at Foss since Sunday, she has not found a new home. But, I think she will like her old home just fine. Robbi |

Listen, don't feel bad. The military rejected me for the same reasons.
