Kate and I just left the factory where we signed the papers for the new Anna Leigh. In fact, she is in the mold. Looked for the Mullens Cabernet 22 but everyone thinks it has been shipped. At least we couldn't find it there.
Looks like we will have a boat for opening day at Lopez. No electronics, but I know how to get there and back. Have the portable VHF. Need to call Les tomorrow before the flight and give him the update for the boat.
Climbed aboard Jim and Lauries 25. It is nearing completion. The new Bennett trim tabs now come with the digital readout so you can tell where the tabs are. Cool. More gadgets. _________________ David and Kate

thats great to hear. We cant wait to see you on the water again. As hard as it was to wait on the first boat to come, it must be even more painfull to have boated and lost then to not have boated before. _________________ Thomas J Elliott

Hi guys and gals!
Just noticing the photos of the new 25's in production. Great looking boats!!!
One thing I see brings up a question. It appears that the top and bottom parts are removed from the molds after production. Are they then joined (glassed) together as the bottom piece rests in a carrier dolly?
This is no big deal, but I'm just curious about the differences. The CD-22's top and bottom are glassed together while still in the molds with the top mold inverted over the bottom mold for alignment purposes. Perhaps the bigger boats, having more internal panels and of course the floor sections are easier to assemble somewhat differently?
Anyone know about this? Thanks, Joe. _________________ Sea Wolf, C-Brat #31

Hi Steve, my Hull number is CD25116D505. I think CD25 is obviously the length, 116 is the actual number of 25s made up to this point, D505 is 4th month, 5th day, of yr05. So the 4/5/05 must be the anticipated completion date. Just in time for Lopez I hope.
Not sure about the process for joining the top to the hull. Your right about the 22. I have pictures of the two forms joined together while attaching the two parts. Maybe someone from the plant can chime in about it. |

Very exciting time in a boater's life, watching a new boat take shape at the builder's. Congratulations!
Our boat, a gray 25 cruiser was probably just being finished when you were there. It's estimated completion date was Friday March 18.
I could not get up there to see the process, but I'm anxiously awaiting its arrival in the Bay Area; hopefully sometime in the coming week.
Hopefully the weather will improve by that time.

I got some of the skinny on the new structure of the 25's. the first ones were built similar to the 22's the top and the hull were butted then joined.
The new construction has it so that the top fits over the hull, kinda like a "shoebox" configuration.. gives better line to the boat and adds strength and eliminates any leakages also, I am told. _________________ Commodore Jim & Adm. Laurie

Our hull number also ends in D505 - 4/5/05 is a good guess, but somehow I doubt they are going to make that for us, having started on 3/15/05...Maybe Scott Mathews or Jeff Messmer can chime in here and help decipher the hull numbers on the CD25s...

Our (Mullen's) cabernet CD 25 was photograghed by Pat Anderson when he was at the factory on Friday. He got 4 great shots. Thanks, Pat! I think David was looking for a 22 when he was at the factory earlier in the week. So thanks to David for looking. If I could figure out how to post the photos, I would. Any help....? Anyhow, we still don't have a name for her, and as unceremonius as it may be, we want to see her and introduce ourselves before we bestow a name. Anyhow, thanks again for the photos, Pat. If anyone has advice as how to attach a file or photo, please let me know.
Cheers! _________________ TJ + Jen

How about an album? That would help, wouldn't it? If you look to the left of your message posts, you'll find a link to it. We'll give it a right proper title when you choose a name for your new boat. Don't want to rush a decision like that.
Thanks in advance for sharing the pictures, and thanks to Pat for snapping them.
And congratulations!! _________________ TyBoo Mike
