09/02/10 C-Brats-

FYI...this report falls into the 'weird' news category and is NOT an April Fool's joke.....

NBC Washington reports that a 8 ft 'bull' shark was caught in the lower Potomac River (MD) about 3 miles north of Pt. Lookout, MD where the river meets the Chesapeake Bay.

Not surprising. With the number of lawyers in DC, one would expect the scent alone would draw more sharks. Plus the copious amounts of bovine feces entering the Potomac around the beltway has to attract scavengers considering there is only one outlet to sea for all that muck.

Not to mention Annapolis is just down river from Point Lookout. A second source drawing them further into the bay.

Don, your nephew is going to take exception to that... Smile

Bull sharks have been caught in the Mississippi as far upstream as St Louis. Care for a swim anyone?

Good one Don , but..... Bull sharks are well know fresh water travelers . They go many miles up the Missisippi and up our Apalachicola River they have been known to eat people's catfish stringers 50 miles up stream from saltwater . They eat people in South Africa way up stream in the rivers as well . Do a little googling and you will see its not uncommon .

Yeah, I'll take exception too. That's just out the mouth of our little creek and across the the MD side. I don't think the river is dirty down here at all. Certainly not crystal clear but one heck of a lot cleaner than it used to be...

He must have one heck of a freezer. That's where he said he put the fishie...
