Well, we're off to Port Alberni in the AM and down the channel to Barkley Sound Wed. AM. Jim & Jan with Cast Away will join us about 15 July for 10 days. We have been pouring over the cruising guides and marking off the fun looking anchorages.
If any one is coming that way in the next 3 weeks, give Dreamer a call on ch 16. We'll try to post updates as wi-fi connections permit. _________________ Roger

Roger,
Have a great trip, I will be up that way a month after you. The run from Port Alberni to Bamfield is fantastic. Enjoy your stay and be safe.

Sounds like a great trip Roger and Janet. That's one of the trips on our TDL. Keep us posted, I may be quizzing you on some tips to share.
Great to hear that Jim and Jan will be joining you. I was wondering where they disappeared to. Give them a shout out for me.

That sounds like a great trip, Roger, and I'm jealous. I had hoped to get up that way this summer, but had to send my passport away to get a visa for a trip and I couldn't get into Canada (or more accurately, back into the US) without it. Oh well, another year. Keep us updated on the best places to go if you don't mind. |

Roger,
Looks like you hit the weather on the head this trip. Should be great for the next week or so anyway. Making up for the N. Idaho trip. Have a great time.

Roger,
If you are into fishing, the Sockeye are bitting hard right now. I have been out the last few days and have no problem finding them around the 45 foot depth area in and around the China Creek area.

Roger,
You must have been taking "dancing" lessons from Barry to get this weather.
Really sad we couldn't make it.
Leave some fish for us.

If you are counting on eating a lot of oysters but are afraid of the PSP that is common up there, the locals always told me to go most of the way up pipestem inlet for safe oysters as they didn't feel the PSP usually got that far up the inlet. Great area, wish I was there. Have fun. |

Hi Roger,
Glad to hear you and Janet have been having a good adventure. One of these summers we are going to make it to that area. Can't wait to see your pictures. Any pics of those big fish? Hope you enjoy more good weather.

Roger and Janet,
Nice to hear you have been enjoying your trip and getting good weather.
See you guys listed under the Montague, BC CBGT; hope you are still planning on attending! We are taking vacation from August 4th - 14th and including the Montague Gathering as one of our prime destinations.
Sorry the timing of your trip meant you guys could not attend Bellingham. We had a great time there.
Anyway, hope to see you guys at Montague!
Take care,
Dan & Tanya |

Nice to hear you had a good time up there! I eagerly read the posts from the Laurie Ann on Tugnuts as well. I have spent about 8 weeks up there in the past 10 years but they were all out of a sea kayak and mostly during February and March. We never had the best timing for Salmon but always eat our fill of Sea Bass, Rockfish, and Lingcod, not to mention rock crab and shellfish. That is a special place and I know the area well. We are planning a trip up there on Aurelia for two weeks for fall 2011 and will boat all the way there from Port Orchard with likely a stop in Victoria or Sooke. Can't wait to do that trip but think the dinghy will have to do kayak duty becuase I don't think we have room for both.
