Hello To All:
I'd like to add a canvas door to to my 16' Angler. How would I secure the bottom edge to the cockpit deck? The Angler has a raised deck inside the pilot house which is a couple of inches higher than the cockpit deck. The bottom edge of the door would be about 12" aft of the higher deck. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I had an Alaskan curtain made, zipper up the middle with two eisenglass windows. I built an extension deck about 12" back from the raised floor and 3/4" plywood vertical pieces cut to the shape of the hull sides that are screwed into the forward inside of the gunnel. The curtain snaps to that all the way to the floor. Haven't attached it across the back of the platform I will take some pictures of it if it ever quites raining. _________________ David and Kate

My 16' Angler came with the canvas back that attaches on each side at the bottom to the floor of the cockpit. There is a small stainless steel eye strap screwed to the deck under the gunwale and the canvas has a snap hook attached to it at the bottom outside corner that you hook to the eye strap when you want it installed. To remove the canvas, you just unhook it from the eye strap.
The canvas is attached at the top and side with snaps that are screwed into the fiberglass. The center piece is removable and has zippers on each side with eisenglass on the top half and canvas on the bottom. There is also an eisenglass window on each side of the center opening. I have owned the boat for several years and it works good. If you look in my album there is a picture of it on the last photo in the album.

Thanks for the replies guys! I really like the idea of the small extension to the pilot house deck. That would provide a level deck aft to the canvas door & also provide a good attachment surface. Love to see photos when you get a break. Take care!

Hey Paul-here's a picture of our canvas bulkhead. The roll up door has zippers on both sides and an eisenglass window. There is no fastener on the bottom and I have never felt a need for that, even in the dead of winter. The canvas rolled up on the roof is the slant-back mooring cover.

Patty made ours. She used the vinyl one that came with the boat as a pattern, made it out of a Sunbrella-like material, it was evidently very difficult because I had offered her services to David to make one for his CD16 but she did not feel she could do it again. Anyway, it has snaps on the top and sides, and straps with snaps at the bottom. Unfortunately the Crabby Lou album does not have a picture of it. I guess I will have to remedy that (but not today, we are at Birch Bay and Crabby Lou is in Fall City.). I do think she needs a Sailrite sewing machine for her birthday or something! _________________
