|
|
Has anyone used the EVERCOAT Marine Match n' Mix Gelcoat Repair Kit EVERC #100668, from West Marine. (WM Product #1934454)?
I need to do a Gelcoat repair, about 1 x 1.5 inches on the bottom, just forward of the transom. It appears to be a chip, 1/8 inch deep, to but not including the glass, and rather vertical edges.
QUESTION: It will be pretty much out of sight, except for Jim's dolphins and friends, but I would like the color to be close to the Cabernet that is original. So, What colors do you or have you used to get a reasonable match?
My instinct says Red is primary, then brown and black.
Thanks in advance,
Harvey

Generally you need to put a very small amount of yellow, brown and black into pure white to get the color used in the C Dory gel coat. Add very small amounts at a time--tooth pick "dabble" is the amount to add. _________________ Bob Austin

When I used it to repair a small chip I found it to dry darker than when I applied it. This went completely opposite to what I would have expected.
