a year or so ago, someone posted pictures of a ladder which had been welded to a trailer for the purpose of boarding the boat during launching. i'm now interested in duplicating that set up but can't seem to find the original post. any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks

Pat,
Sorry we can't help but thanks for bringing this up. We need the same info!
Been lauching and loading a lot lately (last time was to not give Ida a chance to mess up anything)!
Will be intently watching for your results.

Pat,
One example was by David for the Anna Leigh trailer. I have one off my TomCat trailer in my basement that I took off. To each his own!

hey dan,
i've see the pictures and it was a cool set up, some one will recall and forward those to us. i've thought about building one of wood and then having a machine shop fabricate one for me. i've been using a rope ladder, attached to the bow center cleat. not the easiest to climb. we've had our boat for sale but now think maybe that's not what we want after all. so, if i keep it i want to make it as user friendly as possible.
keep the faith.
best regards

Our tom cat trailer has a very simple ladder basically "L" brackets welded to the winch post:
The black is self amalgumating tape on the ends of the "L" extrusion. _________________ Bob Austin

Another way to do it is to put the ladder on the boat, that way you can use it both on the trailer and on the beach:
On the trailer.
On the beach.
Stowed for travel.

I did something similar to Seawolf Joe's setup but replaced the hinge bolts with removable pins so when it wasn't needed I could stow the ladder easier. I also placed it on the port side such that I could flip it in and lay it down on the bow without interfering with anything. Easy install, but you really need a board or a platfom on the trailer tongue to ensure you'll stay completely dry.

Just to revive this thread--Joe, I picked up a ladder just like the one you used for your bow ladder on Craig's list for $25 about two months ago. I've been trying to figure out how I was going to mount it on a small boarding/swim platform that a 22 has room for, it was getting more involved all the time with trap doors to cover it so there would be a flat platform when you didn't need a ladder. What a genius idea for its use and staying dry (drier ??) when boarding or getting off from the bow!! This tired old body needs all the help I can give it!
Now I have to keep my eye out for a under platform ladder- now I can keep get on with that project and keep it simple!!
Thanks, Michael |

after my original post date of 11/21/2009 i found a company that manufactures bow steps, they attach directly to the trailer. they come either in 3 steps or 4 steps and are priced approx $330. range. the person i've been dealing with is mark, spoke to him many times, he knows my name, been trying to have a 4 step shipped to me. they seem to be selling these quicker than they can stock them, at any rate i never did get one delivered. if interested try www.bowstep.com 615-462-2513
good luck,

Hi Pat,
Do you have another link? The one above does not seem to work.
