Teachers?

OK -- so how many C-Dory owners are teachers? Seems that lots of folks chatting on the East Coast Gathering thread are either teachers or married to one. Maybe there's a correlation between teachers and dorys?
El and I are both retired teachers.

Interesting question. C.dorys and teachers.

I'm a retired teacher. My career was mostly (27years) at the college level, but prior to that i taugh middle school and high school English.

I fall into the educator catagory. I've been gettin folks learned up on fixing stuff at the C.C. for about eight years now. It's great when students come back to visit and thank you, it kind of makes you feel like you've actually earned that monster salary that they pay you.

Retiring this year after 30 yeaqrs of teaching English and history on the middle school, high school and college levels.

I am a retired teacher. Taught every grade, starting out in a one room school house on Shaw Island in the San Juans, but spending most of my career working in "alternative" high schools, working with at risk kids. Very rewarding, extremely difficult, and I miss it a great deal. But now it is time to cruise. Very Happy

My wife, Cathy, and I are both retired high school teachers with 35 years each to our credit. I taught science in a regular school, and she taught English, mostly at an alternative school with high risk kids. Joe.

Nancy retired from 30+ years teaching in July 04. She taught special education and her last assignment was teaching the gang bangers in juvenile hall.

You can add us to your ever growing list. My lovely wife retired after 30 years of teaching 3rd thru 6th grade, 3 years in Seattle and 27 in Fairbanks, AK.

As a sidelight, our daughter retired from teaching music after 20 years in the Fairbanks Public Schools and is now teaching at the Univ. of Alaska as well as being the director of the U of A steel drum band. Right now she is spending 3 weeks in Trinidad doing steel drum stuff.

My wife, Valerie, is an English teacher as well. Has taught 8th - 12th grades throughout her career.

I have coached swimming in Alaska and at the U of WA. Recently I have put in a few years teaching high school science. Janet teaches 2nd grade.

Patty here. I taught first grade in New Jersey while Pat went to law school. When we came back "home" to Washington I taught ESL for awhile, then became a "stay at home" Mom. As many of you know, I had a kid in the 70's, the 80's, and the 90's so I "stayed at home" a long time (still am). I substitute now, K-5, since the youngest is finally self-sufficient.

I retired from our local community college after 30 years of playing....er..teaching... taught auto mechanics to adults...it was fun but retirement is MUCH more fun.
Susan still teaches (work) at our local high school...foods and early child development....hopefully she will tire of working in a few years and we can spend more time on da boat.

While I don't consider myself in the teaching profession I have done lots of classes for continuing education requirements for folks in the building trades. To do that I've had to get approval to do so through the local community college as well as the states Building Codes Division. I guess that could put me somewhere in this rapidly growing list.
