As some of you know, I sold my 1988 16 angler after a couple of years of enjoying her and making several upgrades. I am leaving in the morning and driving to N. CA. to pick up my next project. She is a 1992 16 Angler with 2003 Honda 50 and Honda 8. Should be back on Friday. May or may not make the Snohomish River event. Have to call it as it happens.

I love a boat project.

Hi David,

Travel safe and have fun with the new "project." One quick question: does a boat "project" trump honey-do projects? Wink

Best wishes,
Jim B.

As we all know, David needs a project! And as the principal secondary beneficiaries of David's projects since 2003, starting with the reversible passenger seat on the original CD22 Daydream, right up to the motorwell platform for the generator this past summer, we are always delighted when he gets a new project!

4:00pm and I am waiting in my sister-in-laws driveway in Eugene. Half way to the new boat. Will spend the night here and drive the other 6 1/2 hrs in the morning. I am pretty well prepared for whatever. And Pat certainly knows what whatever can mean. I have a set of packed bearings, jack, tool box, grease gun, drill and bits, electrical connectors and crimpers, piece of cardboard cut to fit the windshield, duct tape, And the trailer has a spare tire.
Just got gas and the Tundra V-8 with tailgate down and traveling mostly at 60mph got 23 mpg. So the trip down should cot about $100.

Using someones wifi on the netbook.

Later,

Got to my destination at 1:00 on wed. Called my contact and arranged to meet him just off the freeway. So I am sitting there for a few minutes and up drives a black and white 4WD PU with a canopy with CHP on the side. As it turns out, my contact that was arranging the sale for a friend of his is a California State Trooper.
I followed him up about 5 miles of whinedy or windy or however you spell extremely turny roads to the boats location.
The boat is in very good condition, I will need my friend at AYC to do a little work on her as she has several items mounted with thru holes in the roof and cabin side. No big deal. Engines look great. Run great. 50hp Honda and 8 hp Honda. With a coupler link for steering.
I am at Grants Pass tonight. Leaving in the am and I think I can make Anacortes by the 8;30 ferry. Today was a ball breaker. Up and out the door at Eugene at 5:45 and arrived at Grants Pass on my way back from an hour south of Eureka at 8:30.
Nice thing about a 16. You don't really know its back there.

Congratulations David. Toni and I made a similar trip when we picked up Traveller three years ago. I look forward to seeing your new friend.

Just arrived home with the "new" boat. Only $850 for taxes and license.
Left Grants Pass at 6:15 this morning and arrived in Anacortes at 2:30.
No problems the whole trip.

I will take some pictures of her as she is now and post them.

Congrats on new project boat I'm interested in your tundra what yr and what engine the 4.7 v-8 ?? That's really good mileage for a v-8 truck . We have been thinking about replacing our Honda Pilot with a bigger truck or tahoe style SUV. The Honda towed the c-22 no sweat but with the cape cruiser 23 it's a good 800 lb more so we want a little more safety margin

We will see you in Jan for our c-brat gathering take care Jim

Yes it is the 4.7 V-8. Keep in mind that on that first leg I was on the flat and heading south (downhill) so that helped a lot. I only got 16 coming back.

Got tired of scrubbing, taking off old registration numbers, removing a CB unit, non working am/cassett deck, and sanding down the teak handles and roof rails.
SO I turned a helm hub for the "new" 16. Used Myrtlewood. The black helm hub is the stock hub. Several coats of polyurathene to finish it off.
