To all the C.A.T. folks out there..... Did you know that one of Oscar and Skipper's (Lhasa Apso) cutest traits are their cat shaped paws??? Check them out next time you see them.
Pat, is that a recent picture of Oscar? He definately is a cutie but sooooo small! Skipper now weighs in at 23lbs. Hope they play well this summer when we meet up. _________________ Kay & Skipper

Dan , glad you started this thread and agree wholeheartedly with the thoughts you expressed so eloquently. I would add one more area in which our dogs have educated us, and that is in helping us to be better parents. Having, living with, and training dogs before we were married and before we had kids helped Kathy and me to be better parents. Being consistent, meaning what you say but using positive reinforcement to get the behavior you want, recognizing the need for play, exercise, and stimulation, etc. -- these are all dog training/ownership skills that translate pretty effectively into raising good kids. Moreover, I think when our second came along it wasn't as much of a shock to our first, "only" child because she had had to share our attention with four four-legged "siblings" before her sisiter was born.
As Mark Twain once said, "I aspire to be the kind of man my dog thinks I am."
Best wishes, _________________ Tom on Otter |

Um, Is your cat missing? Just kidding. It's her squeaking duck. She loves it. Your cat is probably safe, unless she squeaks when nibbled! Robbi |

Is Sammy The Wonder Dog real? C'mon, what did you do to alter that photo? He looks so incredibly beautiful, so angelic as to be surreal, like the airbrushing they do in glossy magazines.
Musta just been all freshened up for his photo shoot. |

Thanks, Catman. Yup he's real and nothing was done but cropping. His mommy is a chiropractor so he gets regular adjustments and that keeps him looking and feeling good. He was "saved" from the Marine base dog pound 11 years ago as a puppy and he now works as a full time Chiropractic Assistant, receptionist, and therapy dog. It was, however, taken after yet another brushing.
Definitely a full blooded damnifiknow. Cocker and something. |

Well, I can't let this topic go by without a picture of my Winston who many of you have met at C-Brat gatherings. He just turned 12 and he is kind of a reluctant boat dog, but he comes along with us anyway. Not many terriers on boats and not many 80 lb dogs. It takes 2 of us to get him on and off the boat - he's not as agile as he used to be, but he gets extra points for cuteness.

No, that last one was not recent...just a mere pup, he is a bit more mature now, still nowhere NEAR 20 lbs. Just for the CAT folks here is a great pic, not posed (really), this is Oscar with daughter Lydia's kitty. Oscar needs a grooming in this pic, which he got shortly afterwards, in spades (clipped really short).

In fact, here is Oscar shortly after the pic with the kitty, AFTER the trip to the groomer (note the Antonio Banderas eyes):
