The boating experience has been a major part of my life since before I joined the CG the day after my 17th birthday. Last week I felt I should be at Lake Powell as I had been the last two years, but instead I took Tee Ten to the San Joaquin Delta in California and spent 4 glorious days traveling about 125 miles on about 15 gals of fuel. Love these C-Dorys . My other boat, which isn't really mine is leaving San Francisco Bay tomorrow for basically a world cruise. If I were many years younger I be on her (Maya) but I did sail her to Mexico in 2006. This time I am sitting it out until after Christmas when I'll fly down and sail the Gold Coast. Typical of the skipper Rick, he'll sail out tomorrow into gal force winds to make San Diego by the 15th. When we headed out Oct. of 2006 of course there was high surf warnings on the California coast and gale force winds. The Lafeet 44 sailed it well. Morro Bay had 17' breakers across the channel and the CG suggested not to head in but we were 100 miles out anyway.
To all you C-Brats who love your boats and the waters you run, my hat is off to you and thank you for posting you experiences and photos. I look for them daily. |

Hi Steve,
Sounds like you had a relaxing time in the delta. The CD definately shows its worth in the delta as you can cruise or fish on minimal amounts of fuel.
My son, his two uncles and I were up there last Sunday chasing stipers around Sherman Island and Big Break. We C&R'd many school sized stipers and kept 3 that were deeply hooked.
I think its still too hot to truely enjoy the delta. By 10am we were already feeling the heat. The skiers, wake boarders, and jet skiers are still enjoying the weather too. Hopefully, in another month or two when the water temp cools off, the fog begins to rolls in, the birds begin their migration stops.....geeze I love the delta in the autumn.

Hi Steve,
Lots of us enjoy the postings and photos of our C-Brat brothers and sisters. Say... you wouldn't be one doing all the looking and none of the photo posting now, would you? How 'bout you have Bill or Mike set you up with an album so we can see what YOU've been doing with your boat?
Now that we're land traveling again, I really look forward to photos and stories here for my boating "fix".
Best wishes,
