Just visiting the site for first time a a while and wondered if there'd been any discussions of a Downeast gathering, etc., this summer??? (I'm located in Winter Harbor — just east of Mt. Desert Island...). Thanks, Wes |

Hi Wes, welcome back! I don't know of any but Sally and I are coming up to our place in Roque Bluffs (near Machias) in Mid September or Early October for a month-six weeks. Unfortunately we won't have the boat with us.... A beautiful spot, have been through Winter Harbor many times (by car).

Hi Wes,
Unfortunately we've got limited ranks here in the Northeast. We had talked about a Boston gathering for New England this summer but that never materialized.
I grew up in Maine and spent some time in Casco Bay (much farther South). A C-Dory is a good fit for Maine waters.
Good luck scaring up some other owners. _________________ Captain Matt

Hello Charlie.... Nice to hear from you and I've spent many a blissfull night at Roque Island back in my 'younger' sail/cruising days. Would enjoy getting together when you're here this fall and sharing C-Dory stories, etc.... There's another 22 in South Gouldsboro within 6 miles of my spot here in Winter Harbor also. Very nice chap with a vacation home and met him and went for a 'ride' on his 22 just prior to buying mine last fall. Forget his name but will have name(s) and numbers of two other 'local' C-Dorys by the time you're here in the fall. Perhaps we could do some kind of get-together?
Would enjoy having you out on the boat if you dared to be seen riding with a "Harbormaster" (considered to be the 'worst of all bad guys' by DE fishermen...)
( : >).
Please give a ring when you've arrived here at the end of the world. 207-963-7007. Best, Wes |

Hi Wes,
The NE C-Brats include those of us in ME, RI, CT, MA and NH, and some in NY, PA and NJ as well. We had a great cruise last year in the Mid-coast region and probably will do one next year somewhere in Maine too. This year schedules got in the way and we are doing an Erie Canal cruise in August, and then one again in September, if you are interested. We also did an around Long Island (NY) last month, but that was too far for most folks to come. Next year, perhaps a Down East cruise is in order.I know a number of the C-Brats have talked about it.
Some talk was given to a Narragansett Bay cruise this fall, but so far no one has stepped up to plan it. We would be up for that, maybe in early October.
I believe the boat you took the ride on was Widget. Dave's profile can be found on the members page. We've done many cruises with them...see photo albums.

Gee Dun,
You forgot to mention the C-Dory INN THE WATER located in the Country of Nantucket off the south coast of Cape Cod. I'm hurt.

Hi Folks,
All kidding aside, the September Erie Canal Trip is a real great cruise. Free docking, free showers, free laundry, no other boaters to speak with. Old cities to explore. The lock tenders take good care of us. Weather is great. Not to hot or muggy.
On our cruise a few years ago we had El and Bill cruise with us. We became part of a PBS movie FIFTEEN MILES ON THE ERIE CANAL.
Suggested reading is a book by Bernstein, WEDDING OF THE WATERS. Tells about the history of the building of the Erie Canal and it's importance of the development of the West.
This is a perfect cruise using the trailer boat concept. It is why 22' C-Dory's are so great. (Sorry Nate, also 16' C-Dory's.)
I will make it if I can. Does not look good at this time. Work you know.

Hi Fred,
I hope all is well with you. I did say MA C-Brats were part of our group...and last I knew, Nantucket was part of Massachusetts...almost.
Hope you can join us in Sept.
