We also really enjoyed the gathering! Thanks to all who organized the event. We headed from FH to Jones Island Sunday morning. The dock was full so we tied to a buoy, then hiked all the trails on the island. We did a leisurely cruise back to B-ham and spent the night on the visitor dock. The water was like glass all the way back. We took out this morning and had a nice trip home. Our four mules, and two labs were happy to see us. They are concerned that we may have found another hobby.
Thank you Chuck and Kathy for your guidance on our first trip. Thank you Barry for the inspection and safety discussion. We appreciate all the good information from everyone on how it is done. There must be some connection between good pot luck cooks and c-dory ownership. We are already planning the next trip... |

Huge mahalo to Barry and Patti for all their hard work organizing a great weekend! It was good to meet all of you, enjoy the fun, food etc and pick your brains. I was very overwhelmed by all your friendship, hospitality and I felt welcome by one and all. It's gonna take me a while to remember ALL your names, so please be patient.
After leaving we made the short run up to Roche Harbor and ended up running into Russ and Toni in Provost Harbor in their beautiful boat. We did a quick circle, took a nice pic after saying aloha and headed out. Ended up anchoring for the night in Reid Harbor and spent the night warm & fuzzy as the rain came. We headed out in the morning and made the loooooong run back to Everett. The weather held [at first] and the water was great...I pushed her up to 29.4 knots (GPS) on some smooth water after clearing Deception Pass and then...the winds. We ran into some seas on the entire run down Whidbey and Camano which made for a long ride at 2500 rpm's. It reminded me of the oceans around Hawai'i; water splashing on the windshield, stuff flying around, boat bouncing. It was fantastically fun. The boat handled great and it gave me even more confidence that I made the right decision in going for a C-Dory. Got some video to show Meredith, but don't know how to load it yet.
Made it back to Everett at about 1800 hours and the wind was blowing. Man it made it very difficult to land the boat and I'm VERY glad my brother was there. He was the only able "footed" person around.
Once again big mahalo and I hope to see everyone soon. _________________ "We can go over there...behind the 'little one'....."

Thanks to Barry and Patti for all of their hard work putting together another great Friday Harbor gathering. How they control the sunshine is a mystery to me, but I will take it! And thanks too, to everyone who helped make this a wonderful weekend. The 16 Angler worked out great. I should have taken more pictures, but just didn't. I did take pictures of the Christenings on Sunday morning. Ruth took pictures from the Saturday ceremonies, and other dock pictures. She will get those posted in a few days, as she had some business to take care of as soon as they returned to B,ham on Sunday am.
Most of my pictures are of the two 16 Anglers cruising back to Whidbey on Sunday. Thanks Brock, what a beautiful run back to Deception Pass.
We had a another "first", as Rev Dave christened a sailboat. Good story. A wonderful couple, who are restoring a Ranger 33 sailboat, were at FH last year and observed the christenings. They were so taken with the Rev Dave and the ceremony, that they asked if they might have their boat, Hetaira, included this year. "To the sailors", Deana and James, you two are super!
Thanks again to all! And to the gigglers, you know who you are , thanks for the laughs. It warms the !
Robbi
PS James and Deana, I lost your email address. I want to send you some pictures. (krummroatyahoocom) _________________ 2023 C-Dory 23 Venture Sport

Belated thanks to Barry and Patti for the FH bash. It was great to see old friends again and to make new ones.
Thanks to everyone for accepting a couple of the "Steroidally Challenged" Dorys this year, it has earned all C-Brats reciprocal rights to come and party with us anytime.
After FH we went to Nanaimo, refuelled, did shopping and then on to Pender Harbor with Barry and Patti. After one day layover due to a persistant level of greyness down to sea level we made it up to Princess Louisa.
Barry has all 800Mb of pictures !!
Return was via Newcastle for the night and then on down to FH to catch the Farmers Market to replace all the good food we could not bring back to the US.
Came back through Cattle Pass and across to Deception on a glass smooth day with boats as far as the eye could see making the most of the shrimping season.
Great trip, great company. Can't wait for the next one...
