I just posted on the "folding bikes" thread and wanted to throw out another option.
The fellow I purchased my bike from makes a living by building/modifying electric bikes and scooters.
My folder originally had a motor on it
(2-cycle gas).
We talked about the best overall choice for a small boat like the C-Dory.
He suggested a small, foldable, electric scooter (stand up) as the lightest/smallest option.
Some time back he'd purchased 8 Zappy Electric Scooters(stand-up) and modified them(structural/electrical) for resale. He explained to me what he did and why and I came away thinking that this COULD be the best overall option for short hops from the marina to the grocer, library, or chandlery.
The Zappys he sold would go around 10-12 mph for 45 minutes or so before requiring a recharge.
Best of all they're very small and cheap.
With that in mind I did a google search and quickly found Zapper Electric Scooters which are only good for 3-4 miles but offer a seat and trunk.
Check out the links and video.
Best of all, they're cheap. $240 shipped to your door.
Food for thought!!! _________________ Pete

The electric scooters etc were very popular in our area a few years ago. But Law enforcement went after them. They seem to have disappeared. Also there were a number of accidents. I know that some RV parks do not allow them.
With our larger boats we tried bicycles (Liked full sized mountain bikes the best) and had an 80 CC moped and then two 50 cc Mopeds--which worked fine for us--but we went some substantial distances. I would be concerned with gravel roads, and slippery conditions with any scooter type of vehicle, and their small tires. _________________ Bob Austin

Here's the one we've used for over 4 years with our RV. Probably about time for new batteries, but they seem to be holding up. I don't know if the Co. is still in business or not as their web site (sbebc.com) appears to be dead.
