How much do you use a year, mostly cooking. Where online can you get it ?

When we're cruising (and it's chilly), we go through a jug (less than a gallon) a month. We've been able to find it at Home Depot... pick it up this time of year and it's usually on sale.

Best wishes,
Jim B.

I've gone into Home Depot, been told "never heard of it" and then found it on the shelf. Go to Customer Service and give them the spelling and they can look it up. After winter (this stuff gets used in portable heaters), we've found it marked down to around $5 per jug.

That's not saying that every Home Depot is going to have it, but we've found it in Florida, Texas, Washington, etc.

I stocked up last year and still have some left. (No shelf life that I'm aware of)

Best wishes,
Jim

Yep, Home Depot carries it, but it's seasonal and they won't get any more until the fall. So you might need to hit a couple of stores to find it. I've struck out on three local stores in the last couple of days, but finally had one of the stores look it up on their computer and found a few stores with quite a bit.

I think we went through two gallons last year, so I'll pick up three or four tomorrow.

I went to my local HD; no luck. Only thing they had was extra pure kerosene which claimed to be "low soot" on the bottle. I did find it at Fred Meyer, although I paid nearly $12 for the bottle. Shocked

Matt recommended pure mineral spirits. Opinions, anyone?

Hi Mark,

We used mineral spirits when we first picked up our boat. Worked fine, but was pricey compared to the Kleen Heat. I think West Marine was selling it for around $16/gal.

Thanks, Jim. Interesting that the Wallas will work with such different fuels.

We find that the Wallas works great on the new ultra low sulfur diesel, plenty hot, no soot or odor. Available at your local gas station. $2.11/gallon!

Found a good supply of Klean Heat at the HD in Federal Way today - they stock it in the garden section. At $10.98 gallon with tax its going to be near $12.00. Makes it a lot easier to like Rogers' idea of low sulfur diesel at the pump price. Thanks for the tip, I'll try it next time.

Because it's seasonal, Home Depot moves it to their Hazardous storage area for the summer. I've found it there in July and August by asking someone to go back and look.

Last spring our local Home Depot had it on close out. I bought 12 gallons for less than $50.00. A few days later they had reduced it even further. I took back the receipt and they refunded me the difference. At the rate we use the Wallas I probably have a life time supply.

I buy it from HD in the winter.

If you can't find it and really want it, the company below will ship Klean Heat to you.
