I hauled Captain's Cat yesterday to install the Permatrims and a second transducer. When I took a close look at the engines, I noticed that on both engines, a rubber tube (abt 1/4") that runs from the lower unit up inside the mounting hardware to the power head had been mangled and severed on each one of them.

I'll get the shop manual out later to see what it was, the engines were running fine and behaving normally. Anyone have an idea what these do? I'll get some pictures if/when the sun comes out this weekend...

Charlie

This is a guess but on my Hondas there is a black rubber tube about 1/4" in diameter that run up from front (bow) of the lower unit toward the power head. It sticks out and appears to do nothing. I learned from EQ's motor mechanic, Karl, that it is for a speedometer driven by water pressure coming through a small pitot tube-like hole on the front of the lower unit. Mine are plugged and unused as the paddlewheel from the C-80 is much more accurate.

I had those on my hondas too. They had a plastic plug in them. These are definitely cut, both upper and lower halves are still there with an abraided cut...

thanks

You were correct. On the Suzi, that tube isn't terminated in the open as it is on the Hondas. It runs continuously from the lower unit and disappears into the power head. It's for the speedometer, which I don't use. Guess I'll just leave them alone....

Case closed.

Thanks

Charlie
