Have any of you folks put an anchor locker in a newer 16 Cruiser? I was planning on removing the foam behind the bow partition and using a ceiling mounted bucket as Old Growth Dave did. However, the foam is now injected through a hole in the forward fiberglass bulkhead! I have room to build a wooden locker, I think. The space available would be from the rear of the bow cleat to the rear of the running light fixture, from the bottom of the deck to just above the v-berth cushion. The deck pipe would be between the cleat and bow light instead of between the cleat and anchor roller. This would not be quite as deep as a 5 gallon bucket, but it would be longer and wider. We would put an access plate in it to deal with snarls. We would only have to build the bottom and end piece. West system the wood and glass the inside. Thought maybe mounting it in the boat with 5200 for a little flex and dampening. The bottom would rest on the curve of the lapstrake molding to support the weight of locker and contents. We have 150' of 3/8 three strand rhode and 8' of 1/4" chain. |
