|
|
It's been about a year since Janet took a fall on a moss covered dock at Mystery Bay. The ribs have healed completely and now comes some more pain relief.
It seems the Washington State Park System has a protocol and funds to reimburse victims of accidents at their facilities. One phone call brought a fairly short form to our mailbox. Gathering and copying all the many receipts took another few days. Within 2 weeks of submitting the form, we had a check for every penny spent by us and our insurrer on the injury. I was amazed and impressed.
We haven't been back to see if the dock is being kept moss free but wanted to share this with you all in case you suffer a similar misfortune. _________________ Roger

Roger,
First I am glad to hear that Janet has mended and is feeling better.
Your information about the Washington State Park system is one more reason I'm glad I live up here in the great Pacific North West.
Mystery Bay, is that the area across from Port Townsend? Last time I entered that bay, it was very shallow. Did you have any problems navigating in the bay?
thanks, _________________ -Sarge

Hi Sarge,
Good to hear from you. Yes, Mystery Bay is between Marrowstone and Indian Islands, across from Port Townsend. It is shallow, especially at low tides. It is marked well by day markers and on electronic charts. We've been in there with our old trawler that drew 4.5' and never had a problem.
All the best, Roger |

Roger, what an unexpected outcome to an extremely painful episode. Glad to "hear" that Janet is fully recovered physically. _________________ Dave S.

Glad to hear that Janet is good as new AND you were reimbursed for the medical expenses. That is impressive.
Best wishes,

Roger,
Thanks for sharing. Sure glad Janet is all better. Interesting Sate Park policy. Glad we spend so much time there, and glad it worked out for you two.
Harvey

Glad to hear of the honesty of the state of Washington. The city of Ilwaco is not so kind. We had moored in an assigned mooring and had told the harbor master of a dangerous moss situation on the dock and asked for washing or to be moved. He assured us that it would be pressure washed immediately. The next AM (damp) Marie fell and fracture dislocated her shoulder. Our insurance paid for the emergency room, and the city sent us a bill for $375 for the Paramedic unit. We had assurance when we were at the marina, the city would be responsible for all bills. Not so. The City refused to pay any of the costs, and we had to pay for the ambulance. User beware of Ilwaco! (This was about 12 years ago). _________________ Bob Austin

Roger, that is an incredible response !! Washington is a stand up state.
Merv, I feel your pain --- actually Kathy's. You paid your money and all Kathy got was a kindergarten quality wrapped finger and a lot of hassle just to finally get THAT !!! At least I hope Kathy has healed as well as Janet.
