Patty here. Pat will post soon. Daydream is safely back in the driveway. What a mix of weather from Friday through Sunday. The cruise on Friday was so wonderful, calm, sunny, with Mt. Rainier reigning over the South Sound. Saturday it was howling and we were all happy to be tucked safely in the marina. Today, Sunday, we had a snow blizzard on the way back to Pt. Defiance and much of the way back to Fall City. We have quite a bit of snow on the ground but we were able to get the boat up our gosh-awful hill without incident. Jim just did a super job on this gathering--thanks so much for all the effort to make it such fun. It's a great facility and we hope to be guests again. Pat will add his two cents worth soon.

I guess I would only add that it sure was nice having a CBGT in December! I truly don't recall overnighting anywhere that was as cold as it was the past two nights. Here is a shot from the trail above the marina:

Point Defiance is a dandy lauch for anywhere in the South Sound for those of us north of Tacoma, although maneuvering the trailer in the lower lot is a little tight when there are other trailers on both sides.

It was fairly amazing coming home through fog and a blinding snow storm - we were wishing for usable 12 volt windshield defrosters!

Thanks to Jim and everyone for just another spectacular CBGT in the South Sound!

First a big thank you to Jim for providing such a great place and doing all the work that makes these things feel easy. It was great to see everyone and I would have to say I am impressed with the longer trips people took in poor conditions. Once tucked into the cove, it sure was nice even in the snow and cool temps.
I was last to depart and spent the afternoon running around the South sound. Sounding for salmon checking in on friends from the water and then tied up to my buoy reading intil Kath got home and could help me pull the boat out. Noticed that the boat has great traction in heavy snow. Tested my, over the side two burner stove. Had some help polishing off a dusty bottle of scotch. Told some stories. Learned some new tricks. Got home without a scratch. All is good.

Wanted to drop a note to say thanks to Jim and Yuji for hosting another great south sound gathering. Really enjoyed seeing and speaking to the other C-Brats. And what great food we had at the potluck on Sat. night. Glad the rain stayed away. Thanks to Barry on C-Cakes for volunteering to do Vessel Safety Checks. Look forward to seeing everyone soon. Bring on Spring and happy boating,

C-Daisy crew.

A huge thanks to Jim for hosting the South Sound gathering. It was a great time. Friday was one of those very special days to be on the water. Beautiful sunshine and no wind. Saturday, as forecast was windy, some gusts I would guess hit 35mph. I am sorry that some who had planned on coming out on Saturday couldn't make it because of the wind. We missed you, but you made good decisions. It was a good day to spend at the dock and visit, or to take a hike on the nature trails that surround the marina. The sun stayed out most of the day, which was a pleasant surprise. But, it was cold. Like Pat said, December cold. The potluck dinner was wonderful, as usual. It was a bit shorter than most, as folks retreated to their warm boats to continue visiting and enjoying good company. This morning, the wind had died down, but it was replaced with snow. It is now 6pm, sunny and 55 degrees. Crazy March weather.
Thanks to all who made this a great gathering, Dreamer, C-Cakes, C-Run, Capital Sea, Rock C, Endurance, Goyo, Daydream, Laurna Jo, C-Daisy, and Brock, who left Bambina warm and cozy at home (just like a cat!) and drove to Indian Cove on Saturday.

Robbi

Sorry we're a little late in adding our thanks to Jim and Yuji for a great time despite the cold. We and C-Cakes spent Sunday night at the new marina at Bremerton, Very Nice. Dinner at Anthony's was a plus!

We pushed off this morning in a light breeze from the South. Seas were no more than 12" all the way up Puget Sound. The Straits were more like 18". We were home free. Wrong. We ran into a squall line at Protection Island. Pretty low vis and choppy on into Sequim Bay. But, a couple miles of that in a 5 day trip, not too bad. Bremerton to John Wayne Marina, 2 hours, 45 minutes.

Jim was right. We had 100% weather!

It's good to see everyone got home safely, especially considering the weird weekend weather. I enjoyed chatting with you brave folks who left your warm home, favorite chesterfield and furry butterballs in favor of a windy, winter cocktail party.

A big thanks to Jim and Yuji for hosting the year's first cruise, and to all hands for the friendship and good cheer you brought. I'd never been there before, and I'm glad I went. Robbi and I walked 3.3 miles here and there and all around, which was great big fun. The potluck looked delicious, but I opted to vamoose so I could drive in the remaining light. (Some of us are topographically challenged.)

Glad everyone is home safe- we also had a good time. I learned lots from the CBRATS - about choices of anchors, windlass, radar arch set ups, bimini options, insulating the cuddy. Great discussions about gear and trips.

Thanks to all that contributed their skills and energy and thanks for embracing a winter CBGT. Hope to see the crew on the water during the next few months.

Jim and Yugi,
We would like to thank you very much for your hosting us at your wonderful home base at Indian Cove. The warmth of the C-Brats and your hospitality made the weekend a lot warmer than the snow and temperatures indicated.
Jim & Laurie
