Found this last night at Northwest Boating. Wish we were in a position to have a look at her, but a CD is a few years off for us. We'll just keep dreaming. I'm sure some one here will be interested.
Have fun
Rick

Hi Rick.
I have seen the Lucky R at Detroit Lake. The hull seems sound but the blue trim is faded. The gelcoat can be brought back with some elbow grease, but I would be more concerned about the age of those Johnsons. Factor in the cost to replace with modern four stroke, he may be asking a bit much. Should make someone a nice cruiser at the right price.
My 2 cents worth. _________________ Terry, Ann & Chloe

a word on evenrudes. I have a 86 70hp on my current boat. it has been the best running ,never let me down motor i have ever had, with the 4 blade comp prop it is smooth and even trolls well. The trick with my motor and most older evenrudes is to cut back on the oil a little and to run a can of defogger thru it twice a year. if i mixes my gas at 50 to 1 the engine will load up and not idle or start very well. if i mix at 48 to one it purrs like a kitten and will troll at idle for hours. the de fog cleans the walls of the cyclinder and the carb and valves.
while I am here i will share a secret about oxidized gel coat. I old fishing buddy. ( i mean he was old and we fished, not that i knew him for very long) bought a old 16ft tri hull runabout to use for trout fishing on the sierra lakes. the boat had lots of oxidation and looked faded. i came over the day he got the boat and told him it was going to take a lot of work to get the boat to shine. buffing machines and a cutting paste before even thinking about wax. he said he would be done in two days. well the next day i came over to a boat that was half faded and half shiny new with a deep reflection. Well i could not believe he had done so much in one day. When he told me how i still did not believe him and had to do the other side my self to see it. and yes i got tricked in to doing the whole other side. he used automatic transmission fluid. you just put a little on a rag and rube it in to the gel coat and work it in really good and then wipe it down with a clean cloth. he never shined that boat for the next three years i knew him and it always looked great. _________________ Thomas J Elliott
