The weather forecast is good, the tides are good, I have not been out for an overnight in a long time. So tomorrow is the time. Heading out about noon or a little earlier, heading to Sucia. Cell phone is on, 16/68 is on, 2M is on, music is on, Kate and kitty are home.

OK then! A good steak, a little wine, a little Evan Williams, some tunes, a good book, some quiet time...sounds good to me. Damn I really do have to retire one of these years...Crying or Very sad

Amazing what a night away from the world can do for our soul. Enjoy your time, the solitude, and soak it all in. If time permits, we'd love to hear about it.

Best wishes,
Jim

David,
I hope the fog is a bit thinner at your end of the Island than it is down here.
We have cabin fever too and I hear there are fish to be had in Saratoga!

There was no fog, flat seas and only one other boat on the dock at Sucia. And it was a C-Dory 22 with a couple of young men on her. Didn't catch the name, but it is about a one year old boat and is kept at Twin Bridges.

i went over to Friday Harbor first and wandered around, then up over the west and north end of Orcas.

The dock at Sucia was where we went on our "First Birthday Cruise" February 14, 2004...We also went out the following weekend to Stuart, and David was with us on that one...January and February can be great if the water lays down!

The last time we were at Sucia the mice were rampant on the dock. They ran all over the boat during the night. Only one came in had dinner and leave - thankfully.

Are the mice still there or do they find warmer places in the winter?

That's what those were. They were white. I thought they were little miniature polar beers.

I have never seen mice on the dock in the dozen or so times I have been there.

Sucia is one of our favorite places and we have been there many times over the years. Only the last time at the dock did we have the mice. Sure hope they have gone elsewhere.

Too far for us to go for an overnighter but we hope to get up there again this year. Glad you had a good night with the tiny polar bears.

I was the other boat up there and it was nice to see another C-Dory pull in yesterday afternoon. Like Anna Leigh said the weather was pretty good and it sure wasn't crowded.

I saw one mouse last night, but it was deep in the woods. No mice on the docks.

That's cool that you two were up there at the same time. David, I thought about you this morning when I left the house. And there rested tarped Bambina, thinking similar thoughts, it turns out. We felt the still, cool air, and agreed that a man and his machine could seamlessly be interwoven with nature's resplendence on a fine day such as this.

We'd take these windless fall and winter days over hot, busy summer days almost every time! Glad you could make it, and thanks for sharing.

Pat I just realized I took almost the exact same picture of the Retriever as you did of Daydream. And I agree that January and February can be a great time to be on the C-Dory. I had the Wallas running from the time I eft Twin Bridges until I returned and it kept the cabin warm and comfortable.
