A lot has been said about the noise level of the S1000 pump. Many people who apparently never heard it are considering going to substantial cost/expense to add longer hyd. fluid lines such that it could be mounted in the back of the boat rather than by the helm based apon what they've heard.

I thought I'd post a short film that gives a first hand listen to the sound level to aid anyone in making this decision (without opinion).

I'm certainly not the greatest at this but I posted this on youtube.com under S1000 noise level. The clicks are the pump sounds. The beeps are the send signals from the handheld remote. This is in the driveway without the motor running and just the background Freeway noise.

If that does work try searching for "boat autopilot s1000"

Awesome video. We just installed the S1000 and I was so concerned with the noise (based on the research that I did) that I almost mounted the pump in the rear of the boat. But instead, I put it under the helm seat -- and I was a bit concerned with the noise that it may cause there .

Well, on our first trip -- we could not hear the autopilot pump at all -- not even a little bit. Of course the engine will drownd out some of the noise -- but even with the engine off I bet you could not hear the pump. The only way I know it was working was because it gave a slight vibration on the engine controls.

Excellent post Chris...
