For those bugged by the CD wiper operation:
I finally got around to modifying the AFI 1000 wipers to eliminate the annoying run on problem of the factory setup.
I added a DPDT switch (ON-OFF-Momentary ON) for each wiper so that they can be controlled individually to run continuously or in a momentary mode to just give a swipe or two. The wipers park as soon as the switch is returned to the off (center) position.
The washer is designed to operate only when both switches are in the down (momentary position) so that the wipers run and the washer sprays.
The mounted switches and the electrical schematic are shown at the end of this album page:

Wow Richard, what a great mod! I was thinking of doing something similar with automotive accessories, but this approach is way nicer.
Is this an after-market marine product or did you just retrofit the system together from off-the-shelf components?
What I’ve thought of doing is adding intermittent wiper relays to each wiper switch that could be individually adjusted, and then adding a push-button windshield washer. _________________ Jay

Jay,
I designed this mod with off the shelf switches and an automotive washer system. I eliminated the need for a separate pushbutton switch for the washer by using the second pole of each DPDT switch wired in series. This means that both switches must be on in the momentary down position for the washer to operate. The wipers will operate in conjunction with the washer; which is what you need to happen.
I may add some photos when I get some time.

RichardW;
Nice efficient use of space and logic. Well done !
Have you had any issue with the wipers sweeping on a dry windshield till
the spray wets it?

Great set-up on your wipers. I had washers on my Classic but that is gone and now I need a better set-up on my new CD.
My wipers swing back and forth and only shut off when they are parallel. Otherwise they keep on swinging until they are parallel which sometimes takes 5-10 min.
Also how do you get the arms off of the knurled knob.?? It really needs the pantograph (sp???) type wipers. _________________ On the HIGH TIDE-II, wife Carolyn and I.....Another summer fishing on the HIGH TIDE II in the Cook Inlet at Cape Ninilchik, Alaska.
