After a fun Friday afternoon/evening at Friday Harbor, we returned to Fidalgo, where I dropped Lori off at Skyline and proceeded to Cap Sante for the Anacortes Waterfront Festival. The Lori Ann was among about a dozen boats from the Anacortes Yacht club giving free rides to festival-goers. Among one of our groups of passengers was a fellow who works for Pacific Seafood. He asked if we could go visit the salmon farms on Cypress, which we did. We tied up and boarded the floating pen structure. It's about 8 large mesh pens, divided down the center by a catwalk on which automatic fish-food dispensers are located (think snow blower scattering fish pellets on the surface of the water.) Even though I am opposed to fish farming after learning what a mess they caused in the Broughtons, I did find it fascinating.
Anyway, thanks to Barry and Patty for a fun weekend, and we are looking forward to seeing some of you in Anacortes next week. I look forward to showing you my next boat, a Northwest 45 (just as soon as I can talk the admiral into selling the house.)

We had a great time. Thanks everybody for coming and making the event a success. After much debate it looks like the official (that would be Ruth's) count was 42 boats!! and one airplane Betcha didn't know about that early Baron von Toland experiment but Robbi and Cordell do! It was an international gathering as we had boats from Canada, Boise and Bend (never knew they actually used potato skins for the early C-Dory moulds...thanks for that information In Cahoots, and thanks Sea Pal for the little known fact that C-Dory rub rails are actually made by Michelin and are radial ply . Roger and Janet deserve a great thanks for arranging the weather. Is it true that you own stock in a sunblock company?? The potluck was scarfed up so quickly that Popeye has complained there was little left for her so next year, (yes they want us back!), please make sure those of you shrimping/fishing actually catch something so the resident beggar gets fed.
On to Anacortes! _________________ Patti and Barry

E~fishin~C's crew had a fabulous time as well! What great weather .
We got humbled on the fishing side of it but had fun, and got to see some new spots. The kids had an absolute blast with all the other little guys and it was nice to see more of them at this gathering. Great job on organizing such a great event.

Barry & Patti,
The best yet!! Thanks to you and all the other C-Brats for allowing us to remain Brats in spirit if not in boat. Many special thanks for the early morning baptism to Dave and all the faithfull who attended in spite of the previous evening's festivities. Sorry we got delayed by an ancient Canadian custom involving evaporating wine.
Seems like we must have been playing Pan pipes because of the number of (B)rats who followed us through Deception pass with a 6.5 Kts tailwind, or was it just for the added fuel economy??? Anyway big congrats to Bob and Darlene (Kingfisher) and Anne who braved the pass demons for the first time.
We just got home today after completing our 00-Dark duty for the Marine Resource Council this morning and coming across an errant Les charging around Deception pass in a CD 16 !!!!
C-Ya Friday in Anacortes !!

I've got to chime in...this was a lot of fun for all of us Two Lucky Fishes, as well. I learned a lot, made a lot of new friends, and just generally enjoyed the heck out of my time there.
Thanks, Barry and Patti! _________________ Timothy R. R. Flanagan |

Barry & Patti,
What a great job you did. Even with Merv's (Grumpy's) help you still got everything right! A superb gathering for sure. It was excellent seeing old friends and meeting new ones. Meander and crew arrived home today after an overnight on the hook in Winter Cove on Saturna Island. The marine conditions for us were absolutely great including the Georgia Strait crossing this morning. I hope those of you that had Juan De Fuca (Island Ranger et al) on the travel route got home without too much abuse by Neptune. The marine weather kept saying gale warning but Barry would never have allowed that kind of weather during his watch would he?
Thanks again to everyone for your wonderful hospitality.

Ahoy fellow C-Brats!
How's it going, eh? Thank you again for a wonderful weekend and your great hospitality in Friday Harbour! You made our first C-Brats event truly memorable. Special thanks to Barry & Patti for putting this event on.
Travelling home to Victoria Sunday morning was rather eventful, we hit six foot swells with two foot chop, but Blue Skies kept us safe and dry. It took us three hours travel time, rather than the usual two hours. We wondered why there were no other boats out, until we found about the gale warning once we'd arrived home and checked out nav Canada's weather report. It makes us really glad we decided to purchase a C-Dory!
Blessings to all,
Jim and Shelly

Thank you Barry and Patti for all of your hard work in planning and organizing a super weekend. It was great contacting you on 68 for directions into the slips and I'm certain the Friday Harbor Harbormaster appreciated your taking on those duties for them. Many thanks to you, Barry and David (Anna Leigh) for my 2nd year in a row Coast Guard Vessel Safety inspection. As always the Snoqualamie Brewery beer was a "hit" with me. Thank you for supplying me with a special bottle for my use (ie: consumption) while christening those fine vessels. I'm sure Popeye is hoping that we have a gathering there again next year. He probably, has spent the better part of today sleeping off a hangover from all of the beer and wine that poured from the bows of the christened vessels into his habitat... .
The many C-Bratlets that were fishing, playing around the dock were a delight to watch. They seemed so excited all the time with the treasures they discovered as they moved around the dock with their colorful life jackets on. (I forgot to ask Roger on "Dreamer" why he has an inflatable pink flamingo on his vessel....at any rate the little ones enjoyed playing with it). At one point, I mistakenly thought Robbi was one of the "bratlets" , until I noticed she didn't have a life jacket on....but she certainly had a few of us speechless as she thrust her digital camera under water to take a picture of Popeye.
Our Canadian contingency of C-Brats added considerably to this "international gathering", as they were great sports with our antics....."a"....
Obviously, I could go on and on for days about this fine SUNNY weekend with all the fine food etc. but I don't want to consume everyone's computer memory space, so I'll just say.....Thanks to everyone that contributed by being a part of a fantastic weekend! _________________ Dave S.
