In light of the California and Oregon season closures, could some of our Canadian Brats give us an update on how the salmon fishing season in BC is shaping up? Any links to sites focused on BC fishing?
Thanks,

From what I can tell the news isn't a great deal better up here. At least in the lower part of the "up here". I'm not a good fisherman so I can't give any first hand reports just a link to a site that may have some relevant info for you.

it is looking like the returns will be down overall, some poor juvenille survival for this brood year. i am sure there will be some great opportunities though. we often dont know what the run sizes will be up here but i have had some excellent fishing in doom and gloom years. up here the critical things are where and when, like anywhere. we will be out many days this year and i will advise as the season goes on. we were up in quatsino sound a couple of weeks ago and did well. maybe out this weekend around quadra island. |

I learned from one Canadian at the SBSCBGT that British Columbia has reduced the daily limit of halibut from two to one fish. He was glad, since it protects the resource, I was not, since that is part of the lure of why we go up there compared to Washington's shorter seasons and one fish limit. Halibut daily limit in BC Canada is 1 from April to May. It's 2 from June to Dec. |
