    kicker for CD25?

The prop on the 6 hp Tohatsu can be changed to achieve high thrust, for heavy loads. This outboard is sold as a Sailpro, but the prop is REALLY the only difference, aside from the 12 volt charger, off of the engine, which will provide a small charge to a battery. I changed the prop on my 6 hp...

This dinghy fits in the cockpit on a CD25 & is easy to l

Serpa4, The Tohatsu, Nissan, Mercury and Evinrude 4 stroke, 4, 5 & 6 are exactly the same outboard and all weigh exactly the same. These are all made by Tohatsu and aside from the decal on the cowling are the same. They get the extra HP with different carburetors. They do have 3 shaft lengths...

    Boat tool kit

I am not particularly fond of Harbor Freight’s tools for real everyday use, but I have more than one boat and I have one their all in one tool kits on each boat. I do customize the kit on each boat, to ensure that I have tools for their specific needs, like a socket, just for removing the prop...

    Refilling Wallas tank

Westward, I filled mine last week and never spilled a drop. First, open the cabinet and get all of the things away from the perimeter of the tank. Unscrew the lid to the tank. Loosen the strap from around the tank. Move the fuel container, still upright, away from its mounting location, just a...

    Warm weather mods?

Sam, I have written procedures for replacing the hatch lens and will share that with you via PM. Where I live in Virginia, there is a plastic shop within 20 minutes of my home, so I had them cut the lens. I have cut others before with good results, but I removed the risk of me fracturing the...

All I want for Christmas is a new engine...

Gerhard, There is a Honda dealer/repair facility in Yorktown, VA, that is absolutely the best of the best. They only work on Honda outboards and are truly the best experts on the East Coast of the USA. I would recommend taking your boat to them. They will troubleshoot and provide the best...

On my 26, a hatch would be of little value, as to gain access, would be difficult. I have a custom mattress on top of air springs.

Finally found a candidate, need some help.

TStrong, Good on you for doing the homework and weeding out a boat that you have clear evidence of it, being a fraud. When you started posting, one thing that was unusual, was the fuel tank. Based on the year that your were told, it would not have had a fiberglass molding that contained...

    Lower unit issue

C-Wolfe, Maybe the hub of the propeller has spun out. When this happens, the prop will act normal when checked by hand and will also idle pretty normal. When you increase speed, the prop will turn, but will slip and the prop will not go up in RPM, while the engine still can.

    Just joined and saying "Hi"

Welcome to this fantastic group. Lots of satisfied C-Dory owners, with lots of stories, lot of general guidance and plenty of technical advice. I lived with open boats most of my life and enjoyed most all of them. Once I got a boat that I could drive from inside, I then got to go boating all...

Lower unit bolts--thread locker vs. gasket sealant

Ken O, I overhaul outboards for a hobby and have worked on every brand and size. I've got a least 10, that I am finishing up at this time. After YEARS of failures and seeing corrosion from minor to major, my solution to ensuring that a fastener comes apart in the future is to use Tef-Gel on...

CC 23 Venture cockpit washdown fitting

Tom & Marina, My CC26 has the same wash down system. I too scratched my head, when I saw it and came up with a solution. I’m heading out for a day of sailing, but when I get home, I’ll go to my dock to look at my hose set up.

    Stiff steering (cable)

James, 99.9% of the time, the problem is that the steering cable has a rod at the end of it, that moves back and forth, inside of the tilt tube on the outboard. The tilt tube is steel and the steering cable rod is stainless steel. The lubrication between those two components bind, once the...
