I am looking for suggestions on places to leave the truck and trailer while cruising the San Jauns. In the past I have always chartered out of Anacortes and only one time had a car window broken. I am looking primarily for a safe place. Hate to come back and find something broken or stolen.

Thanks,
Steve

Steve, I,ve always launched @ Squalicum Marina in Bellingham http://www.portofbellingham.com/marinas/sql/moorage/default.htm . It is an excellent, protected two lane ramp with boarding floats. It is also well lit and patrolled by security. However, they might have a limit on the number of days you may leave your vehicle/trailer. Try this interactive map of Washington State boating facilities. http://www.iac.wa.gov/maps/presentation/map.asp?ScreenWidth=800&MapType=1&Cmd=INIT&AreaType=County&Area=ALL Simply keep zooming on the region you desire. Pete

Steve, Cap Sante Marina in Anacortes has secure long term parking. I believe it is $3.00 a day. I have parked there many times with no problems.

Fred, Is Cap Sante a sling or a boat ramp? Pete

It is a sling launch, parking is patrolled by the Anacortes Police.

It is a bit confusing - there are two places called Cap Sante - one is the marina in Anacortes, which I think is what Fred is referring to, and then Cap Sante Marine, on Hwy 20 at the Swinomish Channel...Twin Bridges, next to Cap Sante Marine, is generally considered not secure, but I have parked there overnight several times with no problems, Squalicum Harbor in Bellingham is great, I will secon that, you only need to notify the harbormaster if you will be out longer than five days...$5 to launch, no extra charge for the parking. It is however a bit further to the islands (no problem for those of us who like to cruise!) than Cap Sante is.

Thanks for the information. I will be leaving the truck for one to two weeks so want to feel secure.
If any of you are going to be at Langley I will meet you there.

Thanks,
Steve
