Here's another great find, thanks to our C-Brat buddy Jack in Alaska.

Jack mailed me a sales packet from 1983, in fantastic shape. Included is a brochure, price sheet, and a nifty little trading card. I had to make some sacrifices on size/image quality to make the PDF a reasonable download size, but it looks pretty good on screen or printed out.

Included in the brochure and price sheet are the "Sweet 16", 22 and 27. The trading card is for the 27.

Thanks much, Jack!

I can not download any of these. I tried Adobe 8 and no go so I just updated the whole works to Adobe 9...still won't work. Says error reading file (14) or some such; Adobe help wasn't.

Me too!

And I was just accepting it as another limitation of having a Mac computer, etc.!

Yeah, yeah, yeah...worked fine in Linux. I'd tell you all to upgrade, but I ain't in the mood for any more whining.

Should work from all platforms now, and should look better as well.

Bill,

Good job on scanning those brochures in. I downloaded them without any problem.
I still have 2 of those new brochures as I gave another one away to a local man with a 1983 22' C-Dory also.

Thanks for putting that in, Bill. I down loaded it fine on Adobe 6. Guess I should do an update someday. Real fun read. Thanks from 2 of us,

To Jack in Alaska and Bill the Nerd, Thank you. I have a 1983 22' Angler. The pictures in the catalogue could be my boat.

I purchased my C-Dory from a Coast Guard Officer who purchased it from the Harbor Master in Kodiak Alaska about seven to eight years ago. It had a little water damage on it transom which I fixed when I repowered her about four years ago with a 75 hp Four Stroke Yamaha. It was the best thing I could do, though I had to raise the waterline three inches on the stern. At the time I added two 16 gallon tanks which just fit under the cockpit seat.

The other thinks I have done were to fill in the sides of the motor well with storage areas, and added a cockpit seat for storage on the aft of the cockpit. I had a canvas enclosure built for the cockpit which gives a great
water tight area with plastic windows and screens. I usually run the boat with the top on, but the sides stowed on the berth. I also added Dritek over the cockpit and storage deck. It allows the water to go aft where I pump it out into the motor well before going overboard. It will allow me to use a Sunshower.

In the cabin, I have secured the table on an upright position. This allows a co-pilot to seat with a seat with back on the table while cruising. I have added a galley with a single burner alcohol stove and a stainless steel sink. I will be adding a tank and pump for water. The sink drains into a large jug. I don't believe in putting more holes in the boat and I think gray water will not be able to be pumped into the harbors in the near future.

I also added two shelves, one to the right of the helm area for navigational items and one under the table next to the hull side for books. I am now putting hooks up into the deck along the sides of the bunks to hang bags to hold different things like SHORE POWER KIT, USCGAUX PATROL ITEMS, etc.

Future projects will include cutting into the area under the bunks to put a water proof hatch so as to store food supplies and maybe water tank. I will be offsetting the loss of flotation by adding flotation under the cockpit coamings. I am also planning to add shelves under the coaming to hold dock lines and other things. I have already put brackets beside the cabin door to hold the boat hook ready to go.

In adding all these things, the boat still get up to a plane at about 9 Knots in salt water and 11 knots in fresh water. She cruises best at about 15 knots, as the catalogs says. She pounds in any kind of a sea at 20 knots.

With all this, on the Erie Canal she averaged about 4 to 5 knots/hour.

I will be weighing the boat and trailer this fall when I take her out..

Total cost of this boat at this time is about $22,000.00. Not a bad deal.

Another small feature that I like. Because the port side of the cabin is open and there is no shelf by the forward window, a man can use the head while under way. Very important for a lone sailor like me. you can't do that with the post 1986 22' C-Dory's.

Fred

I found this while searching for the dry weight of the 22' from 1983. The catalog actually skips this - anyone else know?

The catalog is useful for other things though, so thanks!

I assume that you wanted the dry weight of the 22' in 1983. The other catalog has the weight of boat and motor at 1900# and the trailer at 1000#. I figure my boat with all the crap and additions will bring it up to 3000# +.

Thank you Bill and Jack. The sales packet brings back many memories. I look at the prices and think that the investment in our 1982 Angler is one of the smartest and most satisfing investments that we have made. Very Happy Beer Beer
