I've read all the threads here on this subject, plus the FAQs on the Permatrim site, but I need some clarification on some things.

I have a 22 Cruiser, 90 Merc, hyd trim tabs, and a Permatrim.

When my motor is trimmed all the way down the cavitation plate is not parallel to the hull bottom. When I raise the motor until the cav plate is parallel with the bottom, its plane is about 1 1/2" below the plane of the hull bottom. From what I've read here it tells me I need to raise the motor about an inch. Is this correct? Also, at this point the trim indicator at the helm registers in the middle.

With the motor trimmed all the way down and cruising about 12 kts she runs with the bow down as she should. When I start to trim the motor up the bow comes up and I lose speed. Before I even get the trim indicator to to the mid position it sounds like the prop is slipping, which I equate to cavitation. This puzzles me. However, again from what I've read I should raise the motor, no?

Part of my concern is convincing my dealer that they didn't mount the motor correctly when rigging the boat in the first place. Is there something from C-Dory that I can reference to my dealer to convince them it needs to be raised? Sure I can play the "customer is always right" card, but I don't want to jeopardize the budding relationship I'm trying to establish with this dealer.

I'd raise it myself but it doesn't have the slotted hole for the bottom bolts. I don't really have a way to support the whole motor while all four bolts are removed. Plus I think it should be warranty work if I can prove it's incorrect.
