It's funny this came up....I thought about modifying the shelf such that it came out farther to cover up all my wires but it might be in the way.

Take a look at this picture:

http://www.c-brats.com/modules.php?set_albumName=album211&id=Drilled_Ceiling&op=modload&name=gallery&file=index&include=view_photo.php

The teak fiddle to the right is the edge of the existing shelf before I installed the enclosure. If I extended the shelf out to cover these wires for example it would be in the way. (I will have to double check the next time I'm aboard but I'm pretty sure I figured out I could not change the overhead shelf without interfering with head room).

We ended up with so much snow (14 inches this weekend) I spent time shoveling and clearing off the roof instead of fun projects :\

Headroom is a function of how far one's head is from the deck. Smile

Matt, how tall are you?

On another note, my TomCat also did not come with a radar arch. I am thinking about installing one because I want to stow a raft up there. But a radar mount would be less expensive and simpler to install.

Is there enough room up there for a raft behind your raydome?

Thanks...

I'm 6'....I will get back aboard this week to install the tangs and double check the clearance. I swear me head just touched the shelf if I walked far enough forward such that I would not want to extend it any farther back.

I can fit my inflatable dingy perfectly between my all around light and the radar mount. I've got a Mercury 200 Roll Up (6'7" long).

For another idea on the overhead shelf. I'm 6' 4" and didn't want to reduce the headroom with an under shelf mount. I put a face on the overhead shelf and used it as the location for many options.

Thank you Roger!

Here's a picture of mine:

Boy it feels great to get these little improvements done.
