Need some advice -- with the water level so low on Lake Roosevelt, where would you folks suggest we launch from our trailer?

We won't be there for a few weeks so maybe some releases from up river will help? Any info would be appreciated.

At home, I have bookmarked a link to the Lake Roosevelt web site that has the water level and the lowest usable level for each boat ramp. I can't find that site on this confounded computer, when I get home I'll post a link. Me thinks if you dredge through the Lake R. gathering thread you may find that link along with some GPS # to our secret anchorage. (don't tell anybody)
Enjoy, there's some scenerific country around there

Seven Bays is a nice facility that is usable down to 1277'

Thanks, Ken -- I'll look for the site and the GPS location. We're looking forward to some cruising time on the lake. Will you or any others be thinking of doing some boating on Roosevelt sometime in August?

It would be nice, but, we're knee deep in salmon harvest that time of the year....do keep an eye on the water level there, those Snake and Columbia impoundments flucuate wildly

Ken -- found the sites you mentioned. Looks like Seven Bays might be the best starting point -- and those water levels fluctuate wildly each day, just like you warned. Also, found the GPS data. Thanks. Sorry you won't be able to make it then.

Hi El and Bill,
Go to "google" and enter "Current Lake Roosevelt, Washington Lake Level". You should be able to find reference to "Hydraulics" and then be able to locate the current lake elevation. You can also call the Bureau of Reclamation 1-800-824-4916 or Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area headquarters at 509-633-9441 Mon. - Fri. 8-4.

On July 12, 2004 the lake elevation was just above 1288 feet. That is more than adequate for all of the launches on the lake.
(eg: Seven Bays Marina's lowest usable launch level is 1227 feet).
Keller Ferry Marina is 1229 feet
Kettle Falls is 1234 feet

The above figures I found on google under "Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area Boat Launch Levels".

More than "hoping" now...Arranged to take off Friday August 6th and Monday the 9th...will be leaving Thursday after work, we'll see how far we feel like going that evening, maybe get there, maybe stay at Cresent Bar and proceed in a.m. Will be arranging to launch at Gifford, where I can park at a friend's house (still need to firm that up). Have to be back for a City Council meeting Monday evening, so leaving fairly early on Monday...We will have most of Friday, all day Saturday and Sunday, and as much of Monday as we can manage, should be great, really looking forward to it!!

We can't make that weekend, but we've been holding the days of 8-12 to 8-15 open for either Lake Roosevelt or Lake Chelan. Let us know if you're still in the area on those dates.
Lyle

OK, had put this in the Blakely thread for some reason. Here is a cut and paste from yesterday (7/28/04) from my friend Vance, who lives at Gifford on Lake Roosevelt. Water level is NOT a concern at the moment.

It takes about 4 hrs and 30 minutes or so from North Bend/Snoqualmie area to here. Do you need directions? In order for the Gifford Campground boat ramp to be unusable, the water would have to flucuate down by about 40 feet in the next two weeks (the lake is almost full and is not flucuating very much at this time) not very likely, don't worry about it. How many boats are coming?

Regards,
Vance

Vance lives right across the street from the boat launch and evidently can park a few tow rigs, if anybody else is interested in launching at Gifford on August 6 or so, let me know so I can alert Vance.

OK, anybody else up for Roosevelt next weekend? There is lots of water in the lake, a convenient launch and free parking! Here is another cut and paste from Vance Gervais, my friend who lives at Gifford:
Could probably park 5 or 6 vehicles with boat trailers fairly easily.

We are directly across the road from the entrance to the Gifford Campground. That is at mile 56 and 1/4 on highway 25, which runs from Davenport to Kettle Falls (and points farther north) ( 56 miles is from Davenport). The shortest route from North Bend/Snoqualmie is:

Interstate 90 to George, exit 151.
Wa 283 and Wa 28 north through Ephrata to Soap Lake.
Wa 17 north through Soap Lake, to US 2 at Coulee City.
US 2 east through Wilbur and Creston to about 1 mile east of Creston.
Turn north on the Miles/Creston road (there is a sign that says Lake Roosevelt).
Miles/Creston road past Seven Bays to Wa 25 near Fort Spokane & Spokane River.
North on Wa 25 to mile marker 56 +.
When you come to the Gifford Ferry, we are about another 1/2 mile.

Cheers,
Vance

I'll be cruising the San Juans the 9th through the 15th. I have never been to Roosevelt. We were thinking of checking it out for a few days starting the 17th or so. Does that time line up with any other Brats?

OK, we will be taking off about 4:00 pm, maybe 5:00 pm, from Fall City headed for Gifford tomorrow (Thursday, August 5, 2004) with Daydream in tow, assuming all gets done on time at the C-Dory shop where she is getting her 200 mile service, an access door to the bilge pump under the step and a rear bilge pump...My friend Vance says it is a 4.5 hour drive to Gifford from here, but he is zooming along in a car no doubt, so it is probably a 5 - 6 hour trip towing a boat. We may look for a rest stop and do the boater home thingee, depending on the hour and state of our butts...From lack of posts here, seems others are not interested in doing a weekend on Lake Roosevelt with Bill and El, Chris from Rana Verde and us?

Pat, we would love to go but as for many just don't have the time. Have a great trip and take lots of pictures.

OK, we are back from Lake Roosevelt!

Quick pic, some words to follow! Patty is cleaning some "salad" off the props - think this is in Nez Perce Creek.
