Does anyone know if there is a secure place to leave a truck/trailer at Port Hardy or Port McNeill, Vancouver Island. I need to leave it there for a couple of months.

you may want to call Quaterdeck Marina or maybe even the ferry system.

If we were getting up that way by trailering rather than on the water (still not sure)--we would leave the truck and trailer at Port McNeil--there used to be a storage yard there. We prefer it as a place to visit over Port Hardy.

Boris,

You might also check Alder Bay and/or Telegraph Cove. Alder Bay is off the beaten path and only gets traffic from their camp customers. It's about $5 Canadian per day, as is Telegraph Cove.

I believe the lot at Port McNeil is secured, but can not vouch for that.

Boris,

Port McNeil is 'small town' friendly. Here is a link to the harbor dept. You can call them and ask about the storage options. They even looked up a phone number for me once.

We were in all those places at Easter this year (in the snow)

Port Hardy, Quarterdeck hotel/Marina assured us they would store truck and trailer in Yard if you stayed even one night in their facility but you need to book early.

Port McNeil you can park ar Sellars Storage nsellars@telus.net 250 956 4162 for $10/day, $30/week, $60/month.

Telegraph cove is expanding the area just beyond the "old" part of town. They have a new boat launch and extensive trailer/RV parking just above it. Should be finished about now but I would call first. They are also improving the road into town and looks like they are making a by-pass to avoid the steep narrow bit. New doscks were waiting to go in at that time.

Merv/Grumpy,

Your option of staying at the Quarterdeck seems wonderful. Judy should be ready for a treat by then.

Thanks, Boris

Boris,
Try to get a front room then you can watch the action both at the docks and of the Eagles. (If you have a small dog do not let it loose!!)
You need to call the marina and book (early)
The Quarterdeck Pub has "solid" food.

And while I think of it, be careful on the road as you pass Nimpkish lake on the way down to Port McNeil, there are several high speed "depressions" on which you can achieve low earth orbit. Otherwise it's a great drive.

I've left my rig in Port Hardy and McNeil, both are good places. I had wonderful dealings with STRYKER Electronics in Port Hardy. I doubt that they advertize storage but I'd contact them. Great shower and
laundry and just across the street from Gov docks and the Quarterdeck. I paid cash and the price never increased.
