HONDA IS MAKING NEW 40 AND 50 EFI ENGINES AVAILABLE IN JAPAN.
This will update the Honda line in this hp range, which has, until now, been using carburetor technology.
They're claiming a 22% gain in fuel economy for the 50 hp, and 18% for the 40 hp, in the cruising rpm range.
No date give for availability in the U.S. or Canada.
More comments later.
What do you think?

RATS!!! I will pump my primer bulb, trickle charge my batteries, and dream of what might have been. Honda didn't get EFI down their line in time for me. Mike. |

My re-powering plans are on-hold with the release of this news.
I see in Australia they will be getting these in May. Anyone have any inside information of when these may be released in the U.S.?
Thanks... |

there's a hard hitting, factual discussion on this topic over at the Hull Truth damn I hope this pub never gets like that.
For several years I've been asking the Honda folks at the boat show when we get the fuel injection in the smaller engines, every year they said next summer. It looks like next summer has finally arrived....I think either (a) I'll save a bucks and repower in a year or so (give them a chance to work out any bugs), or (b) just say poo on the mid range engines and go for a pair of 150 hp models to hang on the back of a TC...either way, I'm going to wait and see if Dogone Dan can scare up some more oil.....hell, in 2010 I may be repowering with a freakin sail _________________ Ken
