What will the 130 provide as cursing speed? What is its top speed? How about most economical speed? Thanks, Denny |

My Ranger 25 with a 150hp Cummins motor will cruise a 17 knots.
Boat is sensitive to trim, bow up gets you more speed. Jeff might
be able to give you a better idea as to what a 130HP will cruise. |

Denny, if it doesn't go fast enough, I think you can curse as much as you want to!!

3750 RPM 18 knots and about 7.5 GPH
Full fuel, ½ water, some gear, 2 S.O.B.
The best part, it is a very quiet engine.
If you close the cabin door, it sounds like a
sewing machine is powering the boat..... |

I tried to get them to put the Volvo D3 160 in it a couple of years ago. It needed a little modification to make it fit. They chose not to because they had enough orders for the boat with the smaller Yanmar. I probably would have a Ranger Tug now if they would have put the bigger engine in it then. My money went somewhere else.
It looks to me like the Cummins 130 is "almost" enough. It looks like its barely up on plane. Not comfortably up on plane.

Denny , couldn't have said it better myself. as long as people keep buying them they won't make it faster. thier missing a huge market , most boats that are similar, cruise quite a bit faster, alot of boaters still work & time on the water is limited , to burn a few extra gallons isn't as much of an issue as bieng able to get to farther cruising grounds without taking all day to get there. then , you can always slow down for better GPH .i 'm done wasting my breath on this one , as long as fools keep buying them why should they change, i'd be pretty pissed if i plunked down that kind of cash for a 110 then next year or two later they came out a 150 , gee i wonder why they did that ? we know it is what it is & like it or not it's a whole lot slower than most in its class. it's stupid to argue GPH to a piont it's a powerboat , it burns fuel , you can have the option of how much you want to burn and still have something that should be more important , cruise speed if needed , don't understand how people can argue that , why not just sail or row if thats really such a concern. but then again if i wasted my money one i'd probably argue the fact that................ bla, bla , - bla john |
