I got a grill for Christmas, and need to be thinking about where to install it. This year I'll probably be getting a camperback, too. Any thoughts about where would be the best place for the grill and also the best configuration for the canvas as regards the grill? |

Roscoe,
I have a flush mount rod holder in the gunnel, approximately centered between the back of the cabin and the fuel filler, where I mount my BBQ. The camper back window needs to be rolled up in order to use it, but it works OK. I don't think I have any photos of the set up, but could get some if you really needed.

I use rail mounts--and also either roll up or remove the side of the camper back---be sure that the grill is NOT near the fuel fill or vent!
I put the grill below, or bring it inside the boat when running.
I prefer to have the grill over the water (I use the Magna kettles). So far I have not lost any part overboard--and been using them for a lot of years. I also have a "land base"--sort of a quadrapod mount, so I can take the grill on the shore--and often use it on the beach. _________________ Bob Austin

ROSCOE,
I HAVE A CHARCOAL SS KETTLE THAT WE USE, AT FIRST I PUT IT ON THE BOW RAIL TO KEEP IT AWAY FROM THE FUEL VENT. THEN I NOTICED SOME SPARKS HAD LANDED ON THE GEL COAT. SO NOW I PUT MY FILLET TABLE WITH BOTTOM ATTACHMENT INTO THE STARBOARD SIDE FLUSH MOUNT ROD HOLDER, WITH THAT IN PLACE I NOW HAVE AN EXTENION PIECE OFF THE FILLET TABLE TO THE BOTTOM OF THE KETTLE.
THIS HOLDS THE KETTLE OVER THE WATER, AND FULL USE OF THE FILLET TABLE FOR A COCKTAIL AND COOKING STUFF. I DO PUT A WET FISH BAG OVER THE FUEL VENT FOR GOOD MEASURE. |
