I don't currently own a C-Dory or any boat for that matter. I had my heart set on a 22 cruiser for over a year until I actually got on one at a boat show. Much to my dismay I found the 22' way too tight for me inside. The cabin height was good, but not much room at table or steering station chair. And the bunk...wow, now that was really tight. Nice boat though, but I'm glad I got on one and didn't opt to buy one sight unseen. Now I'm going to have to look at the 23 or 25 Venture. I'll also have to look at more used boats from this and other manufacturers. This site will certainly be a bookmark for visits no matter what boat my future holds. Thanks for all the great info and tips C-Brats. Dave. _________________ Dave B. |

Welcome aboard. Don't discount the C Dory 25. We owned a 22 for 4 years. I am 6'2", my wife about 5'8" and the V bunk was a little tight---mustly getting into the bunk with bad backs. The 25 has that much more room to make it more comfortable. My 6'4" son has adequate room in the V Bunk of the 25.
The Tom Cat 255 has even more room--and it is extremely comfortable for my wife and I. The foreward bunk is longer than a Calif. King and about as wide as a queen size bunk. _________________ Bob Austin

Dave-
I agree that this is a GREAT site for C-DORY owners-- whether they be a small 14' (no longer made) or the new 29'.
Sadly for some-- this is not a general boating forum for small boats.
All lookers are welcome to stop in at the pub for a drink and ask/learn about these fine boats. When you buy one, stick around and share your experiences with the other owners, join in on the CBGT's (always a boat load of fun) _________________ Roger

And if you choose to not buy one, you should move on to another pub??
I've never got that impression from most posters within this site.

Your observation is correct. Everyone is welcome here, regardless of what boat they own, or wish to own.
We routinely get into detailed discussions related to boats other than C-Dory. The current thread on the Seaway, and previous threads on the Caledon are great examples that many of us find interesting. Some people seem to have a bug up their butt about it, but so what? It's just another minor distraction. People grumble about all sorts of things around here.
While this site is targeted at C-Dory owners, there are numerous brands of boats that appeal to the same general audience, and discussions of them are inevitable. Folks came into the C-Dory family having owned other brands, and folks move on from C-Dorys that have different needs.
So, as we've said many times - have at it. Folks can talk about virtually anything they want around here...as it should be. _________________

Not at all, Greg. Anyone is quite welcome to hang around as long as they heap praise on us and our wonderful boats and don't ever mention whatever other piece of crap they might own.

Wow, must get tough being stuck in the cabin for the long winter!!
Somewhere along the way some folks missed the point that the people on this site are what makes this such a good place to come to. That is what is "wonderful" its not the boat, its the sharing of the boating life that has made the C-Brat site what it is.
I am not a C-Dory owner, just a life long boater who found this site and have enjoyed reading and learning ever since.
Having fun where the water never gets below 64!!! |

Relieved to read all these posts. I hate bar-hopping. And for the record, C-Dory's and their owners, are the finest!

What?? Me no say nuttin'.
And for the record, this place allowed me to hang around when we were in our discovery stage, and was one of the primary reasons we bought a C-Dory... well, that and the fact it's such a cool boat. Of course, I didn't come here saying, "My boat is better than your boats." I came, hat in hand... "excuse me, I don't want to butt in, but I have a few questions about your boats. Forgive my ignorance while I ask dumb questions and reveal my angst..." Well, let's just say that I learned a lot, made a bunch of new friends, and saw the light. And my buddy, Tom, was one of the first C-Brats that we met in person. If it wasn't for his generosity in offering us a ride, we might still be in the "wondering stage", instead of the "wandering".
Best wishes,
Jim |

Humble? Why, Pat, I'll have you know that humility is right there at the top of the list of my many attributes. I'm sure if you look at my early posts, you'll see I was awestruck with the intensity and passion of the owners here. I pretty much lurked for the first few months. No one has ever called me shy, but I had a lot to learn and spent my free hours pouring through all the C-Dory info I could find. From my first few questions, I was overwhelmed with the generosity and non-combative nature of this place, especially compared to many on the internet. I was a moderator on a very active sailing list, and had to deal with competitive personalities and argumentative sorts... the "only rule" here was a breath of fresh air.
