As I was looking at the gunnel on Constant Craving, and trying to decide if I wanted to remove the flush mounted rod holder so that I could put the down rigger swivel there, I started thinking about the Cannon rail/gunnel side mount as an alternative. I was just at a local marine supply and looked at one, and was impressed with the quality. Extruded aluminum with a nice powder coat finish.
Has anyone in the CBrat community used this set up on the inside of the gunnel? I am begging to think that it would be preferable to poking another set of holes through the gunnel top.
Regards,

I decided to go ahead and purchase one of the gunnel brackets and try some dry fittinng to see if that is something that I really want to use. Here's a photo of the bracket for those who are interested. It will stick into the cockpit about 2 inches, but I don't think that will be an issue. The side supported by the cup will be on top of the gunnel.
