For balance, I moved the Honda 5hp from the starboard to the port side.
It helps, but still drags a little. What bracket do you use and do you
recommend it? Thanks

Can't help here, our kicker on Crabby Lou (a Johnson 8 hp) is mounted directly on the transom. The Garelick that folds down would seem like overkill, on Daydream we have a fixed bracket that Les installed for the Honda BF15. The main thing with the fixed bracket is you have to make sure you have the right shaft length to get the prop down in the water!

People told me that I could not use a short shaft engine on my 16'er as a auxiliary engine. Mad I had a short shaft 5 Honda for my inflatable so I wanted to make it work on the 16. I positioned a Transom Adapter on the port side of the main 50 Yamaha with the clearance to rotate the 5 Honda for steering. I used an Adjustable Motor Bracket to slide into the adapter. This gave me the adjustment need to set the 5 into the water at the right depth and the adjustment to raise the motor and tilt enough to have it completely out of the water when underway at 25 mph. Thumbs Up The engine worked OK but was a hassel to operate while fishing if windy. Evil or Very Mad
I couldn't be inside and with me and the weight of the engine on the port stern the boat was somewhat off balance.
