|
|
2nd time out since I had my 100 hour service.
1st time out where water temp was 55 degrees and air temp about the same.
I noticed visible smoke from the exhaust of the 07 Suzuki 115hp 4-stroke. Noticeable. I placed my hand in front of the exhaust and it did not smell, it did not leave an oil residue....not even water residue.
Again, 1st time in water this cold....55 degrees.
Is the visible exhaust normal? 1st time in 113 hours that this has happened.
thanks in advance,

I can't speak about your Suzuki but in water and air considerably colder my Hondas occasionally, and briefly, emit steam condensation just like the exhaust of an automobile in cold weather. Does your smoke have any color? Does it continue or change as RPMs change? _________________ Patti and Barry

I ran the boat/motor for about 2 1/2 hours. The smoke was white....no oil odor or residue.
It did not increase with increased rpms.....my truck didn't smoke with the outside air temperature.
I don't want to take it back to the shop prematurely...
any thoughts from those who frequently have their motors in 55 degree water??

Gee, 50 degree water is swimmin' nekkid time up here. Only had one Suzy for a short period of time, but it's not uncommon for my Yami and Hondas to "steam" for a while. Up in the Pac NW they get quite a bit of moisture inside. I'd certainly contact your dealer though -- and Marc may chime in here too. Lots of wise Yami guys on here...

Bob-
Is the "smoke" coming out just the exhaust idle relief midway down the motor leg or from the through the prop exhaust as well?
Your Yami Wise Guy or Wise Yami Guy. (Your choice, it's the Christmas Season!)
Merry Christmas!

I have Suzuki 150 4-strokes. In the Texas winter (Dusty- is that an oxymoron? ), a puff of smoke at start-up is not unusual. After that, I have never noticed visible smoke. _________________ Alok

Marc @ Wefing's has volunteered to take care of my motor issues.
I planned on taking the boat in to Wefing's to have a couple little cosmetic things repaired and I spoke to Marc about the smoke. He graciously offered to take a look at the motor.
Marc has been more than a dealer.....I truly count Marc as a friend.
Whenever I decide to purchase another boat....I will buy it from Marc.
Thanks Downey!! |
