Forgive me father, for I have sinned...
I settled with Schooner Creek today on starting the following work list beginning this Friday:
new hydraulic steering
Raymarine ST6001 autopilot with remote
Bennett M120 TTs
Rule 2000 bilge (aux) in the transom
Lewmar Sprint 600 windlass and a 16.5# bruce on 250' rode
a NMEA connection so the Furuno and Garmin can talk to each other
Boy, I feel bad/good (take your pick!). I wouldda spent all summer twiddling with the projects myself (nothing wrong with that), and not gotten a lick of work done on finishing my barn and getting the fruit trees in this fall. Tyboo, what does an old paper mill genius know about minting counterfit $100's. I'd like a little money printing press added to the forward berth of C-Trial. Didn't I see an old thread about that...
Now, would you boys quit talking about about cool mods because I've spent enough money for awhile?

John --
Garmin has some great sales on the color 2006 chartplotter right now, if you want to upgrade. Or, if you have a 2006, they're coming out with a new 300? soon and you can upgrade to that one....
If you want to play with our new 2006 (see, you're not the only sinner in the crowd) we're coming up the freeway from Coos Bay to San Juans and be glad to stop in a rest area while you plot the route from the boat to the outhouse.... the devil made me say it. _________________ El and Bill (former live-aboards)

Good sir, have you no conscience? How can you possibly dangle the Garmin 2006 before me when you can see how mightily I labor under other false endeavors of questionable economy? Do you expect me to not look lovingly upon thy 2006's countenance? Do you not expect me to feel the pangs of passion long since lost to forgotten yourth? What kind of man are you that you would do this to another?
So, where are the best deals on the 2006?
Dear Lord, I have spent and spent and spent. Why hast though forsaken me? Did you not know that there is no trade in value to a Garmin 185?
Repent, Bill, repent.

My favorite Garmin dealer - TVNav. Bought tons of stuff from him (Darrel), he's knowledgeable, friendly, and has some of the best Garmin prices you'll find. I've also had occasion to send products back to him - no hassle whatsoever. _________________

Hi Folks,
First, I should mention that "a boat is a hole in which you pour money."
Second, I had a guy from Newport stay at the Inn a couple of years ago. He refuses to read boat catalogues, because her would spend money on things he did not need. Me , I love the catalogues. Great bed-time-reading.
Third, After not knowing how much I have been spending on the boat, I took out a BOATUS Credit card from MBNA. I now charge all purchases on the card. It have only a $2,00.00 credit line, so if I have to spend a lot of money on one item, I ask myself, do I need it? ( If I take a long trip like down the Inland Waterway, with todays gas prices, I might have to raise the credit balance.

Everyone knows that wealthy yankees speak in terms of $1,000's. When Man from Nantucket refers to $200 he means the 000's are deleted.

For a pretty good electronics catalog, check out Consumers Marine Electronics (http://www.consumersmarine.com/). The catalog's a lot better than their web page, though (I'm a catalog addict).
They have some of the best prices I've found - just got a Raymarine C80 system and a bunch of other stuff from them, and nobody else could touch their price. Since I was rigging a new boat, they gave me a quote that was substantially lower than the catalog or web page pricing, which was already pretty good.
No, I don't work for them, but they were great on the phone (kept me from making more than one mistake) and shipping was really fast. May have to do with the fact that they're in NJ and I'm in MD, but I was impressed. _________________ John
