Lets see if it will post this picture. This is what happens when a mooring comes apart during a storm. When the picture is taken it is never as bad as it really is. Some waves and breakers were 12 ft Some folks from Minneasota got these pictures and were kind enough to send me copys.
Maybe it will be necessary to go to my album.

Ouch, Capt D. Talk about trouble in paradise...

Just noticed you didn't have your photo album linked in your profile - I just added it, it will show up on all your posts now.

Capt. D,
I'm anxiously awaiting the story on this high sea adventure. As well as a "blow by blow" report, I'm interested in knowing how the Hunky Dory fared in this venture. (Hopefully, very well).

WOW, Brings back memories of fishing my old dory off the beach when it should have stayed on the trailer. Takes lots of soap and fresh water after that kind of water you've got pictures of. Some for the boat and some for the laundry. Since you posted the pictures I'm hoping all came out well.

So folks don't have to go hunting for the pic...

OK, obviously the next photo is the boat capsized and smashed to pieces on the beach...not so, I gather. How the heck did this end???? You can't just call "time" to right things, those suckers just keep coming and pounding you...happy ending, or do you just have a real good replacement cost insurance policy????

Sorry I should have finished the story. I was up the beach to the left trying to get a ponga to take me out to the boat. Looking back I saw the boat on top of a large breaker. I thought surely it would roll. My friend Mike was there to grab the stern anchor line and pull the stern in 1st, so it was taking the following breakers bow 1st. Each wave brought it further up the beach until it was high and dry on the sand. No damage what so ever. The winch on the boat trailer and the rollers allow me to load it off the sand, and I was out of there. I have picture of an other boat coming in. The owner got to it and tried to save it from coming in. He ended up riding it all the way in. ( I will post a couple of those) He had damage to his outriggers.

Interestingly my problem came after the storm was over. Wanting to get back to fishing after waiting about a week and a half for the weather to settle. We attempted to launch with about a two foot surf. I was on the boat, Mike was releasing the boat and pushing. The boat for some reason hung up on the trailer. Waves splashed over the transom. In no time the boat was full and really heavy. Half on and half off the trailer. Now I have damage. Water went into the fuel tanks through the vents. The engines were run enough to suck up lots of sand. Which tore up the impellers. and pieces plugged the cooling system. I now know how to tear those Hondas apart from the lower unit up. Took a good two weeks to get up and running, and back to fishing. I had about ten pounds of sand in the cabin under the sink.
