Dan,
I keep my stern anchor(a 13lb Danforth) on a rail mount over the motor well. The rode( 300 ft 7/16 line and 30 ft 3/16 chain) goes in a 'milk crate' with a 3/4 ply lid(with notch for the chain) located in the port aft corner of the cockpit. I put a towel over the gunnel to protect it from the chain.
I made an 'on deck' anchor locker for the foredeck( see my photo album) where I store 300 ft of 7/16 line and 30 ft of 1/4 chain. I anchor( 16.5 Bruce) and pull by hand from the foredeck. _________________ Larry H

Dan,
I have found that the anchor gear always seems too big when storing it on the boat and too small when you are anchored in a 'difficult situation'.
My 13lb. Danforth was the stern hook on my 31ft Trimaran so it is probably overkill on the C-Dory. |
