Camera and Lenses
I use a Canon 20D and 40D digital SLR and three Canon Image Stablized lenses most of the time:
- General Purpose lense for Landscapes and people photo: Canon 28 -135mm F4.5 IS
- Walk-about Wildlife Lense. Very portable and versatile: Canon 100-400 f4.5, L IS. This is a fantastic lense for butterflies and bummingbirds because of its close focusing capability
- Super Telephoto for wildlife photograpy when I can use a tripod or monopod. EXTREMELY sharp: Canon 500mm, f4 L IS often combined with a Canon high quality 1.4x or 2x Teleconverter
Multiply the focal length by 1.6x to get the equivalent 35mm focal length. For example, the 500mm is 800mm and 1600 mm with the 2x converter. I need every bit of this reach much of the time.

Breathtaking pictures  to say the least! I have shared them with the folks around here and all I got was OOooo's and Ahhh's... they loved them  .
Do we have a thread or location on Brat's (help me out here folks as I am not that computer literate) for nature photos ? I have seen some really good stuff from Brat's over the years on this site and it would be nice if there was one place to go to to enjoy them again and again.

Truely wonderful photos! As a Canon SLR owner I also appreciate the very fine lenses which Richard owns--but the photographer makes the pictures!

Richard, fantastic photos but I can't find the bummingbirds!  Matter of fact, they may be extinct because I don't think I've ever even seen one!
