Somewhere in the hundreds of old posts I've read in the last few weeks, There was one about a chain locker. Can someone point me in the right direction, as there's no sense in me "re-inventing the wheel". Wink

Capn Jack-

The dimensions of a chain locker were discussed on

Anchor Locker Dimensions (Classic / Angler),

and the space needed for various rode combinations were discussed on

Advice on anchor line diameter, which would help with determining the space or volume you would need.

I'll also look and see if I can find a specific thread on adding an anchor locker to a 16 foot C-Dory.

Joe.

I think you'll find the details in Oldgrowths photo album. He added a locker to his 16/18

Capn Jack-

Here are three more threads dealing with anchoring a CD16:

Anchor systems for 16ft angler

Windlass on a 16 ft Angler

Anchoring a 16 foot Cruiser

AND HERE"S Oldgrowth Dave's locker project on page 2 of his photo album. Thanks, Marvin!

Wow ! Lots of good ideas out there. Thumbs Up

I had been wondering how to get around the facts that: 1. The floatation block would have to be eliminated. 2. A hawsehole would violate any air pocket that might formed in the bow incase of a swamping. 3. Water dripping from a wet anchor line running through the cabin. Old Growth's installation has neatly addressed all of my concerns with his "Sealed Container" approach.

Being a bit "Altitude Challanged", my next problem will be figuring out how to get out of the hatch to handle the anchor. Wink

Capn Jack - if you have any questions or want additional information about my rode locker, I can send you additional photos and parts list. It will hold 300 feet of three eights line and 12 feet of chain. But that is over stuffing it, realistically only 250 feet of line should be stored in it with the 12 feet of chain.

Thanks Dave,

I've copied the photos on your page for reference. Wink The only change I was thinking of making is adding a foam gasket to the mouth of the bucket for a good seal.

Lots of stuff to keep busy with. I have a tach and harness along with a volt meter on order. Varnishing the replacement handrails for the cabin top. I've installed a bilge pump and an electric horn. Tonight I made e-bay bids on a deck pipe and an anchor roller/holder. Soon as we get some sunshine it's off to the vinyl shop for letters and numbers. Thumbs Up

I think David also did a chain locker on his CD16 Alyssa Jean...my "chain locker" is a 5 gallon bucket that has the rode, chain and anchor coiled up in it...
