Check out the October issue of Trailer Boats magazine for a test report on the 22 Cruiser. There is a nice, salty shot on the table of contents page 6, and an air-suspension shot on page 40. For those that don't have access to a hardcopy, go to www.trailerboats.com , pick "Boat Tests" on the left.

Have fun out there...

Interesting article--they mention vinly upholustry--is this a change--or custom for that boat? Also the total price was mentioned as $43,385, apparently with Wallas and 90 hp Honda--seems a little less than we have been used to?

I wouldn't be surprised that the upholstery is now vinyl. C-Dory has been cheapening their boats and their corporate image since the new management team took over (2004?) After the change in interior to all glass I am not surprised they are continuing the Bayliner flavored revisions. I would not be surprised that the layup of the hulls and other quality issues are now not what they used to be. Red Fox where are you?

Hi guys.

The vinyl upholstery comment is wrong. I started a thread on the article around September 27. Quite a few aspects of the piece were discussed then.

Hi Brats,
Fun Patrol, the article is wrong. Seats are Sunbrella. Valkyrie, I tried to get back to your post, but I am so new to this site that I just got bogged down and led off on tangents. Any ideas how to help me improve my search of older posts? Also about the new boat, CDory sent some new cushion upgrades (3 cushions) for the settee and the sliding copilot seat; not sure yet what it is about them, but I think it is supposed to be a comfort thing. I'll know more in a few days.
Also, for those of us with the Honda 90 fuel injected engine: there is a factory recall for some sort of regulator that stabilizes RPMs. Around 4000 RPM, the tach would oscillate +/- about 300; later, I think it might occur a little around 3000. Wefings has got the new part in now, and I'll take the boat over soon. It was not simply a display problem--you could hear and feel the variation occur. Honda 90ers might want to check it out if you have not heard about it.

I'd be interested in knowing what prop was on that Honda 90 delivering 36 MPH at the top end. Shocked

hi ccflyer,
the Trailer Boat article listed the prop as a 13dx15p SS three blade. i think that buzz said the same thing. it has honda stamped (big) on it, but i think the specs are stamped inside the hub, so i've not seen them. interestingly, i get better mileage than reported in the article (e.g., 2900 rpm, 9.5 mph, 5.1 mpg.) i don't know enough to tell if that is a different prop, or just that the motor is more broken-in. i got it with 16 hours on the clock; now, about 29 hours. any ideas?

Also, as I recall, the Honda is a new EFI model. Someone tested the motor and it actually puts out close to 100 HP.

I wasn't questioning the milage as much as the top end speed. My GPS has me topping out about 25 MPH. Granted each boat is loaded differently. I believe the test boat had three men aboard so it wasn't that light.

Hi Nick and Phil, Yes, the engine is EFI; I'm still learning that there is no choke, no neutral where you can run up the revs. etc. On sea trials, I had her up to 30 mph on flat water, but did not go for top speed; I'm not a WOT sort of person. Lately, we have run mostly at lower speeds because of very uncomfortable waves and chop (barely onto plane.)

That must have hurt when that 22 came down off that wave.

No neutral?

No F-N-R?

Vas is das? (sp?)

Last time I saw a large motor with no neutral was a 1958 Mercury 6-cylinder in-line engine that ran one way for forward, started and ran backward for reverse, and neutral was off (no rpm).

Joe.

Joe,

On my Honda controls there are indeed FNR positions but the neutral is at idle speed only. To increase revs one has to go into forward or reverse.

Thanks for the reply, I really doubted it lacked a running neutral!

The lack of a "warm up lever" to increse rpm in neutral must mean that the motor is designed to take care of itself via the computer for higher rpm warm up as well as automatic choke control.

My EFI Yamaha 90 has the warm up lever, and I find it useful to raise rpm in neutral to charge up batteries in neutral when trolling very slow with an electric trolling motor.

Thanks, again!

Joe.

There is a release button in the middle of the base of the shift lever that lets you run up the revs in neutral. At least there is on my BF150, pretty sure it is the same on yours. Try it!
